I noticed that my truck (01 F350 CC LB) was shaking slighly when I had it is drive. I got more pronounced as I went a little faster, but I did not always feel it. I'm not a grear head, but if feels like something it bent or out of balance. Since I feel the shaking when I'm in gear but stopped, what does that sound like to you guys? I'm not driving it now and I'm taking it in this week for service. Any Ideas as to what I'm up against? Best and worse case???
Thanks
I swear it is coming from the rear end but I have little experience with trucks. What should I tell the mechanic? Is there any way I can check on my own?
There is no mods to the truck that I'm aware of. Is there anyway I can check and fix it myself?
You can get a person to help you and put the truck in gear - where the shimmy or shake seems more noticeable - and then remove each connector to the COP (Coil On Plug). If you remove a connector and it does not change or effect the sound/shake of the engine, then that coil or plug is bad.
Be sure to take all safety measures, like chock the tires firmly, etc. Do not expect just a brake or emergency brake to hold a vehicle if you are working on it. Make sure that the person behind the wheel, who is serving as another safety measure, does not rev the engine. Also, if it is a misfire, the engine will act the same if it is in reverse or forward gear. When working in front of the vehicle, make sure the tranny is in reverse...even though you may have sturdy wheel chocks.
I stopped in and they ran a test on the truck on #9 was a misfire. I was worried it was going to be much more than that...thanks for your help. Is that easy to fix? (remeber I have little or no experience)
