looking to buy an 04, got some ?'s

hey guys,

i am looking to buy an 04 f150 with the 5.4 motor. looking at extra cabs and crew cabs. mostly looking around the 50-60k mile mark. my question is what things should i be looking for, at, before i commit to anything?

what are the most common, or biggest problems i will face? i know of the spark plug issue, but i havent heard much else.

thanks!

I had a 2004 super cab and it was nice but if you have people that will be in the back it is a little difficult to get in and out in parking lots due to the rear doors swinging back. The rear end was a common problem, most were fixed under warranty. Also if the truck seems a little doggie on take off the computer needs to be reflashed by the dealer. My truck had 32,000 miles on it and I had no complaints. I now have a 2006 super crew and the only thing I complain about is gas prices. I do like that the 06 is e85 ready though. I would not get a slider rear window unless it is power, really I would not have another one.

bought my 04 new and still no problems at 54,000 miles miles the extra cab with 5.5 bed.I don't use the back seat for passengers so the shorter truck is fun to drive.

I bought my standard cab new and the rear end was repaired under warranty. It has been a very good truck. I got the standard cab because I don't need to carry over a total of 3 people. There is adeuqate room behind the seat to store groceries and luggage so I have no need for the longer trucks. The standard cab with 6.5' bed is very nuimble and easy to handle.
