400 to 351W/302 Swap in 73-79 F250 4x4

I have a 400M and C-6 in a F-250 4x4 I would like to pull in favor of a 351W and 3.03 setup which I have on hand and working from a donor 73-79 F-150 4x2, not to mention an additional 4x4 3.03 w/ a Dana 20 on the end

I have searched this forum for a definitive answer, but couldnt find one.

Can this be done? What changes to I need to make to the engine tower on the frame? What engine towers do I need? What motor mounts do I need to use?

What year truck is the 400/C6 combo in that you are using as the target vehicle?

Engine towers that are bolted to the frame are the same for 302/351W and 351M/400. Use 73-82 302 engine mounts or 83 up 302/351W engine mounts.

Are you sure your donor engine is a Windsor? It's not a factory option in these trucks, but easily converted and well worth it.

It was converted before I got it. I know the taller block right away. I agree with you that 351W is definately the way to go on there trucks.

I just want to confirm... I don't need to reposition the towers, and all I have to do is bolt up the clutch linkage like it is on the 4x2 and switch the pedal unit out and I can swap in the engine and manual trans?

I believe that's all you need to do.

Yep, all the wiring is the same, so just the linkages that need to be adjusted... I'd have a hard time putting a weaker motor in... but it'll probably get 2-3 better mpg.
