How many Offroaders do we have here

How many offroaders do we have here. What do you wheel and is it your daily driver. I am curious because I want to get a offroad event together. What kind of terrain do you wheel. I'm pretty sure that it is mostly mud. I know of a place in sisally Island louisiana. I wheeled there a few weeks ago. It has a lot of hills and trails. The trails are really too tight for a full size rig. They are more suited for small Broncos and Jeeps. If I would have had a good paint job I would have ruined it. I know there are some good places in south LA to have a mudbog.

I wheel a 88 F150 see sig for details.

You know I do, just haven't been doing much lately.

IF gas wasn't stupid expensive, I'd seriously think about putting my bronco on insurance and using it as a DD.

Has anyone gone to State Capital Raceway?
I see people setting up, but never actually caught one.

IF there are any boggs from Central to sothern La I'd be willing to go.
I wouldn't be able to go tomorrow, but in a few weeks my bronco should be ready to go.
Last one I went to was in Abbevile, La - Duhon's Mud Hole and dirt drag strip. Pretty fun, not to many limitations, cheap, and big.
I'd be more than happy to go!

Oh blsiryder, I think between me and robert(or both) we should be able to get you out.

MBBFord I have heard of Duhon's Mud Hole before. Is it a mud bog type place? Just a place to go to have fun or what? I would be willing to make the trip. I'll tow the F150 down there. Maybe I'll be able to talk a few friends into coming. For some reason I haven't been able to get them to join FTE. 2 of them have 70's models broncos. One on 36" Irocs the other on 38.5 boggers. I also have another friend that has a 79 Bronco on 38.5 boggers. It would be fun to make a day of it.

Maybe we can set up a meet for the mudhole. Sling some mud, shoot the bull, show up some chevies, and have a good time.

blksiryder, I think that we can get you out. I don't know when they start having bogs down there next year. Maybe we can plan something.

I haven't been in about a year, and I just got on there site, and it looks like they haven't been keeping up with the place.
They usually have at least one event a month on a sunday.
But they're closed till spring to get the place back into shape.
http://www.duhonsmudhole.com/

It has a big mud pit to bog in(trucks or 4wheelers), and a wet dirt/sand track for drags and both are fun to watch even if you don't participate. I have video of 3 events, and all are pretty nice.

The holes change in the pit each time I've gone, but still fun.

They have a Concession stand that sells food(burgers, nachos, etc...) and drinks(none alcoholic), PLENTY of room to park, bathrooms.

First time I went they had a rule: No drinking(beer, etc)
Next time I went, they just said: No bottles
Only thing they complain about is more than one person at a time on a 4wheeler while in the mud pit.

We could BBQ our own food out there or what ever (I BBQed last time I went).
Donny(the owner) has rented the place out before if the crowd was large enough.....

Only down side is don't know when there next even is, and it basically starts shuting down at 5:00 pm.

That might be a possibility for one meet later on......?

I agree. I have a couple of places That I can organize events at. There is a place in Start LA that has a pond for bogs. They even do horse shoe track races. There is a place in sicly island LA "Catahoula Recreation" They have areas for atv's and a place for trucks. I have been in the area for trucks. They were designrd for jeeps or small broncos. It can be tight for some trucks. If you are worried about paint it isn't a place for you. There are sand and gravel hills that are fun without paint damage. I can reserve that place if we need it.

All sounds like some good plans(I haven't heard of those places, I'd like to go to some)

What ever we settle on early next year should be good for me.

http://www.pantherswamp.com/

believe me guys, i got a mud drag truck that's been neglected here lately. after changing jobs i am catching up on ALOT of other issues, and preparing for 2 other little "issues" that are about here. twins on the way, hahahaha!! i only got to participate at Jonesville mud drags 2x this past year, due to a work conflict.........now i harly work a weekend, and i'm getting cought up on house repairs, yard work, atv riding, hahaha, and fixing up the mud dragger!! i know Interco tire has a big race at state capital drag way, that's like 3 days long. even with twins on the way
( to add to our current 2) we are hoping to get to more of these races this upcoming '08 year!! and YES i do mean WE.........my wife has a lead foot when racing.........i should know, she usualy beats my times!!

i'm more of a mud/sand drag person......love to watch the bog pits, competed in more than my fair share, and just hae a "speed" addiction i guess. need to see who can get 300 foot the quickest, hahaha!

enjoy the links and check them out. maybe we can meet up this next year.

Thanks Team Mudd. I want to get back into mudracing. I'm just a little confused about the rules. My truck is completly stock. I have raced in Jonesville before. I didn't have to have a cage there. Do I have to have a cage to race stock?

from what i understand you DO NOT have to have a cage in STOCK classes or 5.500/5.75 break out classes (meaning the classes you can't run faster than 5.50 or 5.75 in 300ft). my fastest at jonesville was a 5.81.........i got beat buy a 5.79 in the second round........

i THINK you're not required to have a cage unless you can run faster then 4.50 or 5.00! don't quote me on that one but i heard a couple guys talking about running 4.5's and needing to install a cage on their jeep.........

i'm still getting used to the LA racing too, we came from NC (racing while i was in the Marines), so the track was different and the rules were different, so i'm adapting pretty good!

Thanks Jason. I really want to get back into racing. I have a 88 F150 351W 5 speed. I know that headers bumps you up from stock to stock modified. I may go ahead and ditch the shorty headers and go back to manifolds. The headers suck any way. I cant stop the leaks.

here's some of the tracks i raced at in NC

http://www.littledoomudbog.org/
http://www.nemudsling.com/
http://www.promud.com/

i built my truck for a straight line mud/sand drag, the last year i raced i tried to dabble in the mud pits, but i needed more lift, more tire, more power, ect..........so i stayed with the drag deprtment!
