Hello, figured i would get this licked, but no luck.
'90 aero with the 'illuminated entry' option, the interior lights are timed to go off after a spell...the rear cargo lamp and the 2 footwell lights are functioning
normally, however the dome is dead. It has the aimable 2 lights opposing the dome, those work normally..they have full-time 12v to them, operated via the overhead button(s). The ground is good at the light. the BLK/BLUE stripe
wire that SHOULD come on with dash switch/open door has nothing....
I am wondering if the illumination 'box' somehow has stopped this wire from recieving it's power??
Any thoughts, guys?

i would start by checking the fuse if not the light bulbs themselves.

 

Hello, fuses are all good, i have used mutimeter to validate power at the fuse block, all OK...bulbs, OK. I have no power 'overhead', at the strange screw terminal for the dome light. Went to boneyard this morning to find an 'illuminated entry' module,
no luck...3 areos present but none had the option..what a b----getting to the b pillar, BTW- that panel is HUGE!

check pin 6 on illuminated entry module, supplies switcher 12v to dome lt., step wells and instrument panel lights
pin 7 is 12v input from fuse #6

probably broken wire between module and light

 

Attn: 96_4wd: THANKS, have not worked on it , but if you know the pinout,
then that alone guides me to your conclusion --bad wire--, otherwise, my step lighting would be out as well as dome IF it was the module, but they work...
( how do you know this stuff? I think i need to get the helm books)
