429 ?'s

I have recently purchased a 429 out of a 71 thunderbird. The engine is a non cj engine. I am trying to find out what this engine made from the factory. Horsepower torque those kind of things. Also this thing is going in my rock buggy I'm wondering does anyone have ideas on fuel injection for this engine. Any help will be greatly app.

Standard 429 was 360 hp @ 4600 and 480 lb/ft @ 2800 for the 4 barrel version. The 2 barrel motors were 320 @ 4400 and 460 @ 2200.

Thanks for the specs. That was what I was looking for. But is there anyone out there that has done the gm efi conversion on a bb ford. I have always worked around gm engines but I'm sick of building them and a year later there done. I have heard these engines are tough and I guess I will find out. Also if I go propane on this thing will I need to run dual mixers or does anyone out there know of a larger mixer that will put out say 700 to 800 cfm.

Check out propaneguy.com
He has a 700 cfm on a q-jet base that will bolt to a spreadbore intake from the 429/460 early 70's engines that came with a spreadbore autolite.
A single is much simpler than duals. No synchronizing butterflies and all that. Less chance for murphy to screw things up on the trail.
Also, for a crawler, you may want the added torque of a 460. You only need to swap the crank and pistons to get a 460 out of a 429. Though, I prefer the 429 myself.
efi was available in later model trucks that will bolt to the motor, so you can go factory ford, if you like. Otherwise, theres always the throttle body route.
First post! Howdy.

Yeah, Ford offered EFI on the 429 in medium duty trucks starting in 1992. Horsepower ratings varied, but the top rating was 236@3,600rpm with 358 lb/ft of torque@2,800rpm. These are net figures.
