Chevy vs ford
ok so my buddy thinks his chevy is the baddest truck in town, its got 33 superswampers, a 350, detriot lockers, its a 90's model. he wants to hook up to my 78 f-150 with a 390(might be a 400 not sure) granny low, 4:56 gears, 35 inch mud king tires, who do you think would win the pull the chevy or my ford?

Who cares? Where do the people that I hear about on these forums come from anyway?
But it'll be the person that doesn't burn out. Your buddy sounds like an idiot. Knowing idiots from my line of work, the first thing he'll do is floor it and spin the tires. Just set your brakes. Spinning tires=no traction. After he's spinning, ease into it and pull him all over.
After it's all over, play the banjo.

It just seems to me like a good way to end up with broken gears, u-joints and transmissions.

Of course TONS of things come to play here. Like if your Ford does not have limited slip rear axle and his Chevy does, then that is one thing in his favor. You can have the baddest everything, but if he can put more power to the pavement, then he will own you. A truck pull really does not prove anything. Throw a few thousand lbs in the bed of each and drive them around.
