Follow up to my earlier post singing the praise of TruckAddOns.com
I went to install my lift today that they were so quick in shipping me and guess what, the rear u-bolts and lift blocks are missing. So I can't finish the job. And yeah I know I should have inventoried the stuff first, but I didn't.
So I called TruckAddOns and talked to Dave. He told me it should have been in the box (NO KIDDING? REALLY?) and that the only option was to wait til monday AFTERNOON when he would have time to call Fabtech and see what they would do about it. I will have to wait until TruckAddOns and Fabtech sort it out and then (maybe) they will ship something to me. I suggested that he overnight me the rear kit and then once they get it sorted out with Fabtech he could keep the replacement but no dice, unless I wanted to pay for another kit upfront and hope for a refund with no guarantee.
I tried to explain that I need the truck for work this week, I cant wait a week or more for them to get this figured out but he was not willing/able to do anything to help me.
I will have to try and source the parts locally I guess and pay again for them just to get my truck back on the road.
In my opinion a company like this should ship the part to me right now, since my purchase was from them and then they should try and get reimbursed by the manufacturer. Its not my fault the parts were missing.
Now I see where these horror stories are comming from.
And the saga continues....... You would think that if they are trying to recover an ill public relations, they could at least eat the what, 30 or 40 bucks that it would cost to send you some u bolts and blocks.
I am suprised that FTE allows users to actually share experiences they've had with a named company. (Two thumbs up.)
I'm suprised that FTE continues to receive sponsorship from TruckAddOns.com with this thread being as hot as it is.
I'm shocked that Trailblazers, the company representative on the forum. failed to appreciate the need to avoid public comments to individual customers. Trailblazers would have done better to remain quite and resolve the issue rather than to perpetuate this thread. Before our very eyes, Trailblazer offered Thomas a means to the solution. Trailblazer failed to follow through on his offer. He then made a thin apology draped on both sides by weak excuses. The breakdown was obvious to the observer and, worse even still, the debacle was in public. There is an old saying I like: "It is better to be thought of as a fool than it is to be proven a fool."
I will stick with FTE as long as it is online but I too had best remove TruckAddOns.com from my list of suppliers. I have nothing personal for or against any person or company in this thread, I'm simply outlining what I've witnessed here.

Dave called me back the following monday after the above post. I missed the call, but he left the message that they were shipping me a new rear lift kit. They did and it arrived the following day, direct from Fabtech (per the shipping label). BUT guess what, there was only one of the lift blocks included in the kit!!! That's right, I was still missing parts. I again called TruckAddOns.com and they said they would ship me a new lift block.
I got it today. So 2 weeks later, I have all of the pieces that I was supposed to have in the kit. What sucks is that since this is my work truck, I had to go ahead and buy longer u-bolts and blocks locally to finish the lift anyways, so it cost me an extra $100. So I did not get as good a deal as I thought I was getting, but in the end, TruckAddOns did send me everything I was supposed to have gotten.
Wow, seems to me that the owner is out playing golf when he should be in monitoring his employees, and fire the guy who does the hiring, if not himself. With so many aftermarket vendors out there you would think they would take extra care of a problem of this magnatude. this is just plain sad.

Missing parts is not a new thing. I am very glad I am not selling parts anymore. Where I always ended up taking it in the backside is I would get shipped (or shipped to my customer) a returned part/kit. Very few manufactures have been 100% in shipping sealed kits, I've had missing parts from fabtech, K&N, and many others. It sounds just like in this case it wasn't mine or this vendors fault that fabtech didn't have all of the parts in the box and the OP didn't check everything before trying to install it. It was the fault of the packer at fabtech or the person handling the returns. I used to get very frustrated with customers who thought that I personally prepared every kit/package that left my warehouse and thought I should float the $35-150 for overnight shipping.
Like I said, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that anymore and it feels good to vent about it.
ReAX, I think you are correct, its probably the actual vendors like fabtech we should be upset with, but I really do think that the company that sells the stuff should be able to make it right to their customers and then get made whole by the vendor.
However, after all that has happened, I will say that TruckAddOns did really try to take care of me and did get me everything I paid for. I would consider using them again, but would just verify that all my pieces were there prior to the install. Actually, I will do that now regardless of what company I ordered from.
That's always a good way to start those projects. My old boss insisted I check off parts before I took a customer's vehicle a part and it's saved me a lot of grief.
Thats a good point, i ordered a exhaust from a company but they called the distribtor to ship it out, they sent me the wrong exhaust, i called the place i bought it from and they said they would fix the problem then called the manufactuer and they sent the right one and took the wrong one back, but all in 2 days wait. I was initally pi##ed but they came through.

Kudos to FTE though, seriously. Most forums would have killed this thread from the first post. Honesty, however, is the only way to solve these sorts of things. And the company is still a sponsor???
