very true man i see where your coming from.

but to me, i NEVER use my trucks for work. all i use them for is to get my @$$ to work and back. so to me i would rather go with the full size dodge cause the HP numbers are sexier.

but your right, if i was in construction or something i would get the low end power ford for the torque and stuff.

But the thing i dont get, why change what was great, the old style pickup truck, and not try to generate a new, ugly body style look?

and for the engines, they lack in this department big time. the 5.4 isnt even comparable to the HEMI 5.7.

why spend 30 grand on a vehicle like that when you can get a dodge with 375 horsepower for 30 grand.....
i think ford needs to go oldschool FORD and go back to its roots, and needs a kickass engine to take over the truck world once again.
Beauty's in the eye of the beholder . . .everyone has an opinion . . .yada yada yada . . .

I looked real close at all the full size PUs before I bought the F150. I actually liked Ford's 3 year old styling better than the new Dodge, Chevy, or Toyota. Never saw so much tortured sheet metal in all my life, whereas the Ford has nice clean conservative lines. And the Ford was the quietest of the bunch.

I drove the Hemi. I actually drove 4 different ones. I don't know if its the 4 to 8 valve/ignition system or what, but there was a definite hesitation in acceleration in 3 of the 4 hemis I drove. Actually I don't care what the numbers are, the Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, and Ford all feel about the same in the power department. A few HP or ft. lb. difference in a 6000 lb vehicle isn't even noticable in real world driving.

Sexier? Whatever makes your flag wave. I guess if the numbers are higher it's something you can brag to your neighbor about while it's sitting in the driveway?

Sexier? Whatever . . .

+ 1 here. Its crazy to think people just drive trucks to commute, LOL. I'd much rather drive a car to work everyday, faster, more comfortable, and usually better gas mileage.

I am with Ryan50hrl, but I also use my tuck to commute and haul my 2 quads around on the weekends. I could understand if gas was hitting your pocket really hard, but I am happy with the 17 mpg i get highway since my commuting is highway. The comfort level of my lariat is better than most cars, along with that, being 6 foot 3 is no picnic when trying to stuff myself into a car.

I for one use my truck to commute about 99% of the time. I get 11 MPG and I commute 65 miles round trip daily. I hate driving cars and I refuse to buy one no matter how much gas costs. I am a full size guy (300 pounds) and I will ALWAYS drive a full sized truck.

When my daughter gets out of college, I'll buy me a new gas guzzling 4X4 truck to commute in. I may be buried in my commuter truck.

ryan50hrl, is talking about using a truck to commute in only and not using it for anything a truck is ment to be used for.

I used to use my truck for work but my dad bought an 08 F350 so now my F350 is just my to and from work vehicle, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

The only thing I use mine for is to haul off trash a few times a year. Other than that it is strictly a commuter vehicle.
