speedo calibration / Edge

speedo calibration / Edge
I have an Edge programmer and have the tire size set. My speedometer on teh dash reads 65 mph, the Edge will read 62 mph, and my GPS will read 60 mph. I can do the math and figure out my real speed, but the math get a little harder figuring our actual miles drivin and MPG. Is the Edge right? It drives me nuts that they dont all say the same thing. Should I adjust the tire size so that either the speedometer and/or the edge read the same as the GPS. Has anyone else noticed this.

yes, i noticed the same thing.... be sure to check the gear ratio setting on your edge as well.... according to my axle code of 19, i have the 3.55 ratio, which makes my edge read wrong.... but, when i enter 3.73 into my edge, it will match the GPS unit. however, you cannot believe the truck speed needle, that will always read wrong as long as you have larger tires on it, unless you actually have the pcm calibrated for it. a dealership could do it, but then you wouldnt be able to use the edge, since you would have to leave it on the stock setting for the needle to be correct. the nice thing is that the needle should read high. this being said, if you follow the speed limit, you will always be a couple slow, which is safer against the tickets.

Yeah, mine is 2 to 3 different on my edge as well. What's interesting to me is that I have never adjusted my ratio settings since I haven't changed my gears. The manual said to not adjust it unless you change the gears. After reading Mattd17's post, I went out and looked at what the default setting is, it read 3.73---I got the 3.fitty 5. What does this affect? Is it just speed and shift points? I've had the edge for about a year now and I'm just noticing this.

I havent passed a speedcheck but they are off alot of the time in the past when i have ran past them.
Can anyone post what improvements they have seen from the Cold Air Intake, new exhaust and a programmer?
I am specifically interested in fuel economy increases but wanna hear about all the gains. I would also love to hear it from a driver instead of a selling point from the dealers. I was wondering if I should get the air in and exhaust out before gettin the programmer.

i used the volant cai and took it off because it was louder then my exhuast. i had a gibson s-in,s-out on my 04 and it was nice and quiet. i now have the edge programmer and it is probably the best thing you could and will notice.
i'm thinking of putting a gibson back on. i don't need people knowing that i'm coming. you ever notice how all dodge trucks have loud systems.
