Red face Hard start in cold winter

In the cold weather I have problems starting my 7.3. I have to shoot a shot of starter fluid in the airfilter hose to get it started!

Hi and welcome to FTE.
It`s too dangerous to use starter fluid, if a glow plug ever decides to light up there will be an expensive engine rebuild coming up in very short order. To find out more on this and help with your starting problem go into the 1999 - 2003 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel forum: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum31/ .
Be sure to drop an intro in your local Illinois Chapter: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum122/ real soon.
