Congrats on the find. That didn't take very long...did it? J/K

The 2 screws holding the horn pad come from back side of the steering wheel. Pop off the horn pad to expose the center nut for the wheel. If you have an air bag (unlikely) there a re 4 screws holding the horn pad. Be sure to disconnect battery to starter relay cable for at least one minute to let the air bag backup power supply discharge.

Wow! Has it been that long? Time goes fast when you're having fun LOL
I was wrong about the screws holding the horn button on, it just pops off. I noticed it this morning while using my truck. Must be gettin old...or too much crap goin' on. Sorry for the bad info.

We'll let it slide this once Jim. Yep like Jim said the second time the horn pad just pulls off. remove the nut and then you need a bolt grip puller. the steering wheel center will have two threaded holes to put bolts in then put some pressure on it with the puller. Then hit the top of the puller with a hammer. the steering wheel should just pop right off. I have had the bolt hole break before so if that happens you have a harder time getting it apart.

A long time ago I pulled one by putting my knees behind the wheel and feet on the dash and beating the bolt shaft with a hammer and punch... Darn near broke my skull when it let loose.

How is that for a watch this stunt? You have been forewarned.

Neal is right. Only you should slip the nut on a turn or two, this will keep you from needing teeth later. Then pull up with knees and wack the crap out of the nut/shaft with a 2x4 and light maul/big hammer. I've only had one say no to this method. Good Luck, desy

The key to that method (which I tried but didn't work in my case) is one hard hit! Don't be a sissy when you have that hammer in your hand. The mroe times you hit it the more damage you could do. One hard hit then your done.

I loosten the nut, leave it in place enough turns so it can't come off ,,pull, fairly hard , rocking it back and forth ,it will come off without hitting anything,,

when it comes off,,

the nut keeps it away from your nose,,,,
Pullers are fairly cheap now ,,Seems though, you frequently don't have the right thread , or lenth of bolt..

I am a man of MANY tools. A steering wheel puller is definately in my arsenal. So I'm assuming you pull up from where the column meets the wheel? To remove the panel I mean.

I think we all need some drill team practice. We all know what we are sayin, just having trouble getting everyone on the same page we "think" we are on. Last one, I'm going to bed.
