Bias ply sizes... photos?

Hi guys,

I've decided to put wide white walls on my 1953 F-100, and am going to go with bias plys. I am lowering it a few inches (volare clip in front), but wanted to keep it looking like a early to mid sixties custom.

I'm hoping you can help me out with photos of F-100's with bias ply's, white wall or not, and/or the tire size you are using.

I should mention, I'm planning on running 16" rims, but haven't decided on width yet.

Thanks in advance!

Ben

If you can find the wide whites in a radial it would sure drive alot better. Bias plies will follow every little rut in the road.

Good luck with it, I love the look of wide whites

I have a '53 with a Volare clip. It has wide whites but they are 15" radials. Check my gallery to get an idea how they are going to look. I read an artical from Coker Tires, and it said the new bias tires are way better now. Rod.....

bias plys

Wow! Xfordman that's a nice truck!

On the topic of bias vs radials, as xfordman said, the bias plys these days are better engineered than they used to be, also, I figure people drove for fifty-plus years on bias plys, so my truck can probably handle it too.

I've also heard that bias plys with a straight axle will wander more than bias plys with the volare clip... don't know if it's true, but I'm believing it...

Anyways, thanks for the input. I really like how bias plys (white or not) look, and they are perfect for what I'm going for.

Anyone else have any input or photos? I appreciate it!

Cheque out my Gallery for what my Blackwall Bias Plys looks like.
Modern day radial tires are all contructed like Re-caps of days of old.
I've had one to many Radial blow it's tread off @ high speed on the Hwy & I'll Never purchase another set ever again.

Visit your Local Indipendent Tire Dealership & ask to see the PAC-STAR line of Bias Plys, as they are normally 1/2 the price of Coker.
