Mine will not engage at all if I put it in O/D but seems fine if I put it in D, R, 2, or 1. Does that sound like a solenoid problem? I can sorta hear or feel it when I put it in O/D but then nothing.
No drive at all in the OD position, but works fine in D? That doesn't sound like a solenoid problem. The solenoids on this only affect the 3-4 shift and the torque converter lockup clutch. When these fail, the transmission would behave like a traditional 3 speed transmission (meaning that it would at least drive, just never upshift into 4th gear).

No drive at all is going to be something else. I recently saw a discussion on another forum where the poster had a similar problem (no drive in OD, but seemed fine in other positions) that turned out to be a bad OD sprag.

Thanks. I came to the conclusion that it's a bad/broken O/D sprag. I don't know exactly what that is, but that's what everything points to. Will it hurt my trans to continute driving it in D? Is it likely it will suddently fail and not go at all?

That I don't know. I'm not enough of a transmission guy to know what happens if you keep driving it as is.

Thanks mrshorty. I guess I'll call my local transmission guy but if business is slow then I'm pretty sure of what he'll say ;-)
