What A.R.E Truck Camper Models Fit a Superduty?
The current A.R.E. website only shows the CX series fitting the Ford Superduty. Are there older A.R.E. models that fit?
I ask becaue I am looking at a used A.R.E. cap that looks like the MX series. The guy said it came off his Superduty and that it fit fine.
Thanks

I am looking for an inexpensive aluminum topper for a superduty long box. I am having a hard time finding manufactures for them. I just want something inexpensive to put on when I need it. 90% of the time it will be off the truck and i don't want to spend big bucks on a fiberglass one. Plus they are too heavy to put on and take off all of the time.

Z Zee ZEE!
I have one - nice fit, had to replace the rear door after it shattered into a million little pieces. (pieces spoken with appropriate Ren voice).
$500 to replace the door. I see them for sale all over the place, entire cap, for $400-500 used. I payed $1600 brand-new with tinted glass and screens on the side.
I built a rack on the side of the garage - pull the truck up to the garage, put cross-pieces under the cap, screw to brackets on garage, insert uprights, drive away. Single person topper removal

First, I paid that $1600 around 5 years ago. Second, no rug, front split window (tinted), side tinted windows with fold-out windows and screens, tinted rear window (standard). The racks are probably what made the cost jump up ...
J&J Trailers in Oakdale, on Sunrise Highway, on Long Island (New York).

The $500 glass replacement was covered by my ZERO deductible glass coverage (New York State law, can get two glass incidents per year without raising my premiums).

I've been seeing fiberglass caps/toppers for sale here on Long Island in the $400-500 range for the past few years.
Sickening really.
Some people (me included) bought a truck brand-new and either had the dealer put a cap on it before buying, or bought one ourselves and gave proof to the dealer. So we could register than as passenger cars. After that's done, and the title and registration all say "SUBN" (suburban) instead of "PICK" (pickup) and we have passenger-car plates, the cap doesn't have to stay on any longer.
Many people wind up with them sitting in the backyard and the wife constantly saying "if you're not going to use it, get rid of it"
The problem is the color matching. If you're lucky enough to find one color-matched to your truck (and it's not faded too much more than the truck is), good. If not, it can be expensive to have a body shop paint the cap to match the truck.
Basically, that's why they are so cheap used.
