04-ticking engine

dropped off my 04 5.4 for warranty work on the ticking engine at hot idle. they agreed to change cam phaser as per warranty. said it would take 1 day.

it's now been 4 days they've had the truck and when I went to get some documents from the glove box I noticed it was on the hoist and both front tires were totally flat.

Is there any plausible reason why they would have to take air out of the front tires to change the cam phaser on an 04.

(I asked why my tires were flat, didn't get an answer)

When I worked for ford we used to either remove the front tires or remove the air to lower the front when working on the engine. Made it easier and less painful on the chest as the truck is lower on the ground when leaning over.

bought truck in june with 50K, from ford dealership. purchased the ford extended warranty -major comp. till 2011 or 110K- for about $1000. $100 deductible. warranty just paid for itself. bill being submitted by dealership to Ford was $1100 for parts, + labour. don't know the total.

well
picked my truck up today. after replacing both cam phasers , changing tranny fluid, and rear brake rotors as the pads wore and ground them. I am out $1832.00

unfortunatly , the ticking had gotten so loud, (like an exhaust leak loud) that I pulled the trigger to get the cam phasers fixed

well. I have a quiet , smooth running engine now.......with an enhaust leak

the noise that convinced me to get the work done. is still there.

I think I will try to tackle the manifold gasket myself.

I am selling the truck to my dad and want everything right. I have a superduty on order
