Hijacking on Ebay.

Watch what happens after a few seconds on this ebay auction (Auction)

After a few seconds, the page refreshes and it changes from a bid auction to a buy it now auction. It also changes the item location.

But the real hidden detail is the link that the buy it now button takes you to. It looks like a redirected domain name that stinks of fraud and hijacking (http://signin.motors.com.eu-domain21...istari/ctliste).....

My career revolves around internet security and this is the first time i have seen something like this.. Word of caution... Keep your eyes open!!!!

Cheers,

I've seen a few scams floating around the internet like this. There are frequently 'too good to be true' items for sale on kijiji.ca with a link to a phony Ebay page. Always beware of the cgi.ebay in the url...

That's surprising. That is a genuine e-bay listing, that when opened takes you to a spoof ebay page. I can see a lot of people being taken in by that kind of scam.

A serious problem with e-bay security.

Someone who wants to steal your ebay login information and use it to try to rob you blind. I'm sure if you followed through far enough they'd go after paypal info, or other personal info that they could use to rob you blinder.

That's the nature of the world, unfortunately.

I think ebay is pretty good about dealing with scam reports. They have a pretty well paying business riding on their reputation.

Hopefully they'll figure out how they did that, a legitimate listing redirecting to a spoof page, so they can prevent it in the future.

I saw one like this on a conversion Ex about three months ago. It had the tvs, bar, and seats facing each other in rear. Price was LOW. But when you opened up the auction screen flickered and you could watch the address change that it was sending to you on lower right. I reported it to eBay and it was pulled. I just worried that my accessing the auction allowed them to get personal stuff from my computer.

On the same note there are ads placed now in all areas of eBay from clothes to cars that will have porno images. This is a real problem for eBay too. Not only are the images present on their site but if they are opened it will direct you to someone trying to steal your info. So, dude says look at that chicks picture here in the middle of these ads for truck parts, CLICK and now he has opened himself up for problems. And even more if wife walks in!
