thinking about trading my titan in for a f150?
My 07 Titan crew cab has a few clunks and squeeks that are driving me nuts with only 11000 miles on it. I was thinking about trading it in for a fx4 crew cab or a lariat 4x4 crew cab.
What kind of numbers should i be walking into the dealership with? I need to get the best price because im going to have about 3k negative equity in the titan
thanks

Welcome to FTE ibtravis,
Sorry to hear about the Titan, there was a thread a while back about those trucks having a bad rear end - too light - and going out with only a few miles on it.
Are looking at an F150 Supercrew or an F250 and up Crewcab.
For a better idea about how much these are go to the FORD website.
FORD.com (I think)
There is a build your truck feature that includes your zip code for accurate pricing and local dealer inventory.
F150 Screws - 37,000 or so
F350 Crews - 40,000 or so

I traded my 04 Titan for an 07 150 and imo the Ford is just a more solid truck all around. I think that most of the probs are worked out with the Titan by now if you are not concerned about the hit in the wallet (how bad do those squeaks and klunks bother you?) Mine was really bad early model I just had no faith in that truck at all but they have got alot better from what m told.

I do collision repair and in my most humble opinion, the F150 is the most solid 1/2 ton truck ever. I use to love my dad's 03 Ram hemi, but as soon as I drove my 04 F150 I was sold. Nice solid ride, feels like you're driving a truck instead of a car with a bed.
I bet if you're a real 'truck' guy, the F150 is going to convince you all on it's own.

I would all so definitly do it, and ford is really wanting to move the 07 models so you can pick them up for pretty cheap. The website is www.fordvehicles.com.

as far as numbers go, it really depends on your local dealerships and how desperate they are to clear out leftover 07s.. My neighbor picked up an 07 4x4 fully loaded lariat screw 2-3 months ago for 35k. not bad for nav system, audiophile system, sunroof, leather and everything... an FX4 stripper can probably be had for 32ish around my area, while a fully loaded around 35-37k. a 4x4 xlt screw can be had for under 30k without much search.
I tend to like dealerships that take the one price - no wheelin' and dealin' approach... much less headaches.
edit: look on the door and make sure whatever you pick up does not have axle code 19. mine does.. stupid 3.31 gears...

Since you're already $3,000 upside down on your current vehicle, you will be more than double that if you trade. You better have exceptional credit to find a lending institution that will finance that much at a reasonable rate. The recent credit problems with banks have caused them to tighten up their lending standards.
Whether you keep the vehicle you have or trade, you should have gap insurance to pay the difference between what the vehicle is worth and what you owe. If your vehicle is destroyed or stolen, the insurance company will only pay the value of the vehicle and you will owe the difference to the bank. It doesn't matter if the loss is your fault or not. It really hurts when someone destroys your truck and you are stuck paying the bank thousands of dollars and you have nothing to drive.
