I would think its a fuel pump with that low of a pressure.
Pressure should rise going to WOT even if the FPR was in full bypass (stuck open).
What year is your truck? Cali truck is a bit more of a PITA to change the pump.

My truck is a Red 1997 PSD, Auto, 2X4 CC SB. 3" DP & the Kitty ran away,
Napa 6637 Air Filter and the CCV mod run to the rear of the truck. I have an exhaust brake and 31/2" exhaust. Gauges: EGT, Trans. Temp.,Boost, Engine Oil Temp, Coolant Temp. & Fuel Press. Other than that, it's stock.

Gee, why doesn't it surprise me that a Cali truck is more of a PITA than anything else including the space shuttle?

Bill, I don't even know where the fuel pump is. None of the photos that I have collected indicate where this little guy lives.

I do have the part numbers for International, Ford and Napa.
fuel pumps. Plus, I still haven't found out what the code P1395 is.
Is it significant to my problem?? I don't know.

1395 my guess is a ghost. Never saw or heard of.

Its down in the valley of death.
Look down in the valley between the turbo and fuel filter can.
If the pump has a disk looking thing towards the rear (Pulse damper) of the pump you have a cali truck. Same pump for 49 state. It will just tell me if its a cali. If it is you have to remove your FPR mod. The cali has the higher fuel pressure and splitshot inj.

Hmm
Possible if it was a 12.
Glow plug monitor fault. That would make it a cali truck. Cali has the monitor system (shunt).

Just looked it up. Cali
1395= 1 to 3 gp's open right bank.
There is a set of added pcm codes for the monitoring system.
1391 thru 1397.

Still with the only 20psi of fuel thing. At WOT the cali will go 100psi.

It is without a doubt #P1395, I have recorded it twice. I already went ahead and removed the FPR mod so everything is basically back to stock.

I found the fuel pump hidden in the bowels of the valley, below and foreward of the turbo. I sure wish that I was a Spider Monkey that would sure simplify things.

I just got back from Napa and P/U a new pump for $110.00 OTD. It appears that I will probably have to replace the Orange air coupling hoses as they look like they will disitergrate if I touch them. What the hell, they are ugly anyway.

Are there any surprise "Do's and Don't's" that I should know about?

The pump appears to be activated by a/the cam shaft lobe and is held in place by two (2) bolts. The pump that I just purchased appears to have two (2) hose barb fittings on the top. Down towards the bottom of the pump there is another hose barb, pointing in the same direction as the top ones.

Directly on the opposit side of the pump and opposit the bottom hose barb is a rather large female theaded opening. Inside this opening there is a disc that appears to be a valve of sorts.

When I pull the old one off I'll be afforded the opportunity to compare them.

Although the box says "AIRTEX" imbossed on the pump is "CARTER"

Wish me luck,

Rog

Carter is the only one who makes the pump.
You will need more parts than just the pump.

PM me your email address and I will send the write up to you. I did mine last winter after following these steps and had no problems. Might be a good idea to change the hoses while you're in there too.

Cali is 65/75psi.
Have to find my list (part#'s)
I have to change my cali pump this week. (dam weep hole).

You will pull either the turbo or the filter can to replace the fuel pump.

Bill:

It appears that the turbo is the one to go because that large, threaded opening on the pump has another large part that goes below the Turbo.

There are two (2) fuel lines that split from this area run under the Turbo and are connected to each head so, my guess is the Turbo goes.

It won't hurt my feelings if you tell me I'm wrong.
