Gabriel Ultra shocks??
My '99 F350 CC Dually 7.3 has 72k miles on it and I just replaced the tires.
The old fronts were wearing on the outsides the best I can tell.
I have about 500 miles on the new Cooper Discoverer H/Ts now.
The RF seems to have a little rough area on the outside if you rub your hand counter-clockwise on the tread.
I'm thinking with 72k on original shocks its probably time for replacement & a good quality front end allignment.
I bought Gabriel Ultra shocks at Autozone with a lifetime warranty.
Questions are:Anyone have any experiance with the Gabriel Ultras?? and what would cause the roughness on the outside of the tread so quickly?

Thanks for the reply! Its going in on Friday to get alligned.
Factory door post sticker says 60psi front and rear, I started with 70psi and went to 60psi pretty quick, someone on here said to run 40psi in DUAL REARS and 80 psi in fronts--my rears with 60psi are kind of "blown out" in the center and not wearing completely square-outsides are not touching the ground as the tiny nibs are still on the outside edges with aprox 500 miles on them.

shocks have no bearing on the uneven wear. A new set of tires will develop a wear pattern in the first 500 to 1000 miles. The wear pattern will change as the tires are rotated around the truck.
Get the alignment, and have the ball joints checked. If you run around most of the time unloaded I would run 50-55 in the rears and 55-60 in the fronts.

If you are set on replacing shocks, I have read that Billstiens are a good shock for our trucks, I personally went with monroe Reflex shocks when I got rid of the ranchos that came with the truck. I hated the ranchos. My monroes give good feedback. I am curious, I am also running cooper HT tires brand new. I replaced balljoints, PS box, and drag link, alignment, etc. I am still getting uneven wear on the inside of the front tires. I give up!

I gave up on tracking down the cause after I sank a lot of money in the front end. It drives perfect, no shimmy at any speeds tracs perfect, tight steering wheel, the last thning I replaced were the shocks, I thought fo sure the old ones were cuasing it. Everything replace within 5,000 miles. Oh well.

Gabriel Shocks @ AUtozone
evans17: What are you talking about in reference to my reciept?? do you think my tires themselves are bad?
I heard a clunking noise from my Expy front end 2 weeks ago. Put in on the lift and found BOTH Gabriel shocks were fractured on lower end. The metal piece that bolts to the truck frame was missing on one shock and broken in half on the other. They had approx 30,000 miles on them. Luckily, I had my receipt and AZ swapped them out without a fuss.
