Well the first thing I would do is finish the exoust mods. You have the cat back what is good, and the headers, but sound that you still have that stock Ypipe/cat in there. If so lose it, and get a better one. The stock Ypipe is a HUGE cork. tiny pipe, and bad bends. Let the rest of your mods work, and replace that

yeah I do have the stock Y-pipe in it but i'm pretty sure the guy who ahd the truck before me hacked the cat out. but I was just thinking of gettin true ual woth highflow cats and no mufflers and just run straight 3 inch off the cats to the back. way less restrictiion of flow. so far I've ordered my Twisted trickflow aluminum heads, got my rebuild kit (goin with forged flat head pistons), and I'm upping the cam alittle bit donno what never yet but i'll decide soon, and i'm still trying to find the best aluminum intake for my truck. I was wondering, causne my purge canister is shot, is there a differenc if I get a ford racing one over a just stock ford one?

What kind of fuel injection do you have? If it's the kind with an airflow meter, Ford MotorSports sells a rollercam that is awesome! Something like 300 degree duration 500 lift and works with a stock converter and fuel injection. Sounds incredible. I called Ford and told them no way and the tech man said they sell the heck out of them. He was right! Best sounding camshaft I've ever heard. With a good set of heads, headers, and upgraded ignition, the little 5.0 came to life. Got more compliments on the way it sounded though. And when they asked what it was, I could say it was all stock (Ford that is)

The cat is not the problem!! Tiny badly bent headpipes that are only a tick over 1.5" in dia. A real bad for flow S bend between the cats. Loose the stock Y, get a bosinni [sp??] or have one made up using the Flowmaster 2into 1 collector. [thats what I am doing] You have the mods, but you have a cork getting the air out.

Alright, He said in one of his early posts (if not the first) that he is running 3 inch from the wye back...that is NOT too big that's pretty good...you do need to ditch the stock wye though that is really bottlenecking you like Paul said....The Mustang intakes are made more for top end with it's shorter runners...the truck intake (ie longer runners) makes better torque...that particular sub. has been argued about many a time in the 87-96 forum......Yes, at 400 HP you're startin to strain that block...do the girdles and whatever else you can to get some ridgity....around 500 hp is when the blocks split in half right down the middle....Open the intake as well as the exhaust..remember the colder the air coming in the more power you get...a cold air intake kit is a waste of hard earned money...grab an air horny from the airbox to the front of the grill from a 300-6 or 460...do a little bit of trimmin and you'll get the good stuff from behind the grill.......a 351 is a heavy one and the reason it makes more power is because of the wider deck thus a longer stroke...besides......it's fun blowing the doors off of someone...and when they ask you what's in it you tell them a 302 or 5.0....the looks you get are priceless....and it's a bit of a challenge to do....I've heard nothing but goodthings from the 331 kits...the 347's I haven't heard too many positive raves about.....next get some hottor spark goign to the plugs and some colder plugs as well......Good Luck

Well I'm running the GT 40 intake both upper and lower, the upper is the same as what they used on the lightnings i belive... Look at the pic of my truck in my sig, I have a full functional Ram air hood, so I should be getting some cold air in it.... I'm not goin to extreme with the motor mods this go round, If i was i'd use a 351 or a 460 block and do a 545 stroker on bottle...

It'll be a cooler engine that's for sure but you need to make it so that ram air is functional to induction......Like i said about the intakes...the shorter runners are better for higher end...the Lightnings also came factory with somewhere around 4.10 gears to give em some more giddyup off the line.....

yeah I have 4:10's in my truck for 4x4in... What do u mean by functional to the induction, it runs to the air box, which was inverted to take in more air...

I built a 5.8 efi so far just stock bottom end with gt-40 aluminum heads, crane cam .530 lift, edelbrock performer efi intake, BBK throttle body, did my mass air conversion before all of this and am using 75mm pro-m meter and now have a diablo sport chip and am dumping 345hp to the rear wheels and thats quit a bit since it is going through an auto trans a tranfer case and 35" tall tires. also has a little over 360ft lbs torque. This year the bottom end is getting beefed up probably 408 stroker already have a 408 stroker going in my mustang and should be close to 500hp. check my gallery under 96 f250, good luck with finding more power that is never enough.

The only thing that ram air hood is doing is pumping in tons of cold air making your engine run cooler......which isn't a bad thing either...but in order for the ram air to be effective through induction...you need your intake in direct line with it to pull as much cold air as possible with as few bends....Luck

Well since I bought a GT 40 upper/lower intake, 65MM throttle body, and ported 302 H.O. heads off a stang, i should be getting a bit mroe power i think haha. My truck already has MAF kit and MSD igniton, i for got to list those items.
Since the throttle body faces the drivers since cause of how the GT 40 tubular upper intake is, I'm getting a hose, Donno if i should go with rubber or Stainless (look way nicer) but its going to have a 90' bend to about 8 inches or so of tube then to the air box which is going to have the air filter faceing up and into the hood where the scoops are. Thats how the air intake is going to be changed

Water5 and I did the same swap on his truck a few years ago and I tuned it; it's a good improvement if you have a cam to go with that swap on a 302.
