yah hit it on hte head, a stock Gm is lighter, less frontal area, smaller tires and will get slightly better mileage. But, if you put on 35s and lift it to match an SD its going to get 16 or 17. If you drive faster, then less. I have done just under 22 cdn MPG but thats pump to pump 600+ Km per tank, no slowing down, no stoppin, no pissin and no coffee. It all depends on how you drive....

Diggin up bones here...

A colleague of mine just took his 2500HD 4x4 LBZ to Casper, WY from SLC and got 22.5 mpg hand calc'd. He has his Edge Evo set on Economy and drove the speed limit. He has 3.73 rears and stock tires with a fabric bed cover. His trip last week from SLC to Grand Junction gave him 22.3 hand calc'd. He said he pulled his bassboat up Parley's to Strawberry and got 17. He also says he pulls his 5'er up Sardine Canyon and gets 15.

How fast were you going? I've gone from Airdrie(just north of Calgary) to Kelowna which is about 650 km's and still had 3/8's of a tank left, I've never calculated my mileage but I have put over 1000 km's on a single tank of fuel with my 03 6.0, when I filled it up it took 117 liters, felt pretty cool to get over 1000 km's on the one tank.

These diesels can get these good MPG. If you keep the stock height and tires and drive a reasonable speed of below 70. I avg about 20 mpg on the highway with mine and I think I can get some more out of it still.

My 05 f-350 single rear wheel gets about 13.5 regular back and forth to work 35 miles one way with about 30% city driving. I have seen as low as 11mpg. When I pull my RV ( not sure of its weight but it is an entry level 1994 Dutchman 26' gooseneck, so not very heavy) I get 8 mpg. My 97' 7.3 pulling the same trailer got about 10 mpg. One time I drove 130 miles 100% hwy and I got 17.9 from one fuel pump to the other. I have never done better than this. I am fairly dissappointed with my mpg. My dad has an 07 GMC classic duramax, 2500 4x4 stock tires, extended cab short bed. He gets in the 18's on the hwy without trying and gets 15 to 16 just around town doing his usual business and 10 to 12 mpg @ 70 mph pulling his 28' Rv with stand up room in the nose. (unsure of weight) I am also very unsatisfied with the way my pickup shifts gears constantly when pulling a trailer everytime it sees a little bitty hill. I am looking at getting a duramax for a little better mileage and because I have more control over the gear that it is in when pulling. I cannot lock my f350 out of overdrive as it is not designed to do that. I think the constant shifting and high RPM's is killing my mileage. If any of yall are getting 18 to 20 mpg with the 6.0 yall are verry blessed.

My 03 F250 with 285 tires will get 18.2-18.5 MPG driving rural empty. Truck weighs 7,240 with full tank and me in it.

Wow this thread has a bit of age... Pound for (vehicle) pound they get about the same mpg which is actually quite respectable considering the vehicle weights. I know a lot of folks that own both. SRW will get 18-20 mpg hwy, 15-17 mpg average and the DRW's are slightly less. The downsides: The 6.0 can be temperamental (did I say that?) and the DMax has been prone to overheating when towing decent sized loads in the summer heat.

I just averaged 20 mpg hand calculated in my 06 F350 crew cab short bed 4x4. went a 120 miles used 6 gallons. Most of it was highway driving at 60 to 65mph I was very pleased with that my 7.3 would average 14 at best and sometimes if I was easy on it I could get 17
