I have a grille guard like the one bobj49f2 posted with the 'F' in the middle. Anyone know what color these were painted originally? Mine was painted body color, but it looks like it's originally supposed to be black...just need someone to verify...thanks!

Lol, I wanted the MH truck last month. This month I'm looking at that F2, and I'm thinking, "now only if my contractor had the house done on time (8 months ago), maybe I could smooth it over with the wife", but alas, right now a TV and couch are priorities, I guess.

Well, here's mine. Anyone have any information about this grill guard for the older ones. Its incredibly robust, although its a bit bent (I intend to fix that).

I had one a while back and gave it to irondragon because it didn't look right on my '48-50 truck.

I have one like this. I think it must have been an aftermarket piece. I have seen quite a few of these on trucks on uPay, junk yards and published articles about trucks across the country.

This one follows the features of the '48-50 a lot better than the first grill guard.

I have one very similar.

Bringing back a decade old thread....
Finally going to made a brush guard that bolts onto the factory bumper. But first I'm going to modify to accept a vintage Warn winch. Also want it to kind of match my flatbed headache rack.

Very nice' you got my attention with adding a winch and the grill guard. I have plans to do the same thing with a vintage Ramsey pto winch and an original grill guard like the op posted or the one that BobJ has the image still showing up. On my 51 F2 Marmon Herrington truck. Not sure how or if that will work but im wanting to attempt it so I will be watching your progress.
Take lots of pictures.
Cheers
Josh

a couple of pictures of the grill guard on the donor truck!

and the winch I found.

I would love to find one for my '50 F-7 Coleman. The wide ones were 1948-50 F-7/8 and F-5/6 COE only. For 1951-52, Ford only made the narrow one for all models, F-1/8.

Chuck, I remember you asking me if I had seen any of those grill guards. I just went through a bunch of old pictures as I remembered seeing an F-7 MH carcass in the middle of Wyoming when I picked up the F3 MH back 2013, I couldnt remember the year, its a 51 F-7 as the picture shows but the grill guard is one heavy duty home made job . the 52 F7 or 8 in the background looks pretty decent although this 51 is just the beat up body on the frame (no axles or running gear)

I'll keep my eyes open in my ventures though

and another grill guard I had on a 52 C6 that I sold and shipped to the UK.
