All auto and truck manufacturers production was shut down, and the plants were converted for war work. Ford, GMC, Chevrolet, Dodge, Studebaker, etc all made trucks for the armed services and Allies during WWII. Nash made some taxi-cabs in 1943, these were the only cars made after 2/17/42 till production resumed in 1945.
The last FoMoCo vehicle made in 1942 was a Mercury Fordor Sedan.
If you look on the inside of the hood ornament where the screws attach, you will find the part number there. The prefix 19A is 1941 Merc, 29A is 1942 Merc.

Hey Bobby, I noticed your Ford Fairlane 500 emblems in your case, maybe you could find a place on your truck for them? Since you have a 500 Caddy engine in it, then you could have a Ford 500? What do ya think?
Just a thought! I keep old emblems too, I've got them bolted to cabinets and everything else. I love old stuff!!

Here are some more random emblems that I managed to bolt onto a panel and hang it on my garage door.

I remember as a young teen I would go with my father to the local wreckers for some misc parts and a BS session between my father and the owner would usually ensue.....I would wonder around the yard in and out of nearly every vehicle on the lot for hours. I would take the odd shiny prize home but have since lost the stash when the parents sold the farm and thought it was just a box of junk....I'm glad I don't recall exactly what was in there.

I got an email from a guy in southern NM about 5 yrs ago, he said there's a front clip for a '50's F-series at this boneyard down here. That's about 200 miles from me, but this is right near the Mexican border, dry as a popcorn fart, and I figured it was worth a look, might be rust-free.
Got down there and this place was basically a series of arroyos that had cars/trucks of the '50's and '60's pushed into it. Way down in a remote part of the lot was a complete '51 front clip, not entirely rust free but as good as I've seen. The yard owner (who live on site) was in what certainly appeared to be underwear, and BarBQ'ing chicken when I went to ask price. He couldn't figure what I was talking about (alcohol involved) and said "what do you want to pay?". I said $100 cash money. He said it would cost his boys that much to pull the parts off the donor, I said, No, it's ready to go, laying there. He had another drink and said OK.

$100 bucks for one of those buck toothed awful front clips. Man that guy took you for a ride!!!...........LOL
Kusto, come on by, there's typically a frosty one to be had (although after last night I might be running low....oooph)
Terry, thats precisely why I have so many 500 emblems. I gathered them for years thinking I could use a few on the truck somewhere. Here's pic of the emblem I finally decided to use. Its from the glove box door of a early 60's Galaxie 500;
I like it, its small and subtle

This isn't really a junk yard find either but just got an email back from a feller in Vulcan, Alberta that I had spoke to months ago about a set of front fenders he was willing to sell me for $400 now he asks me if I would be interested in taking a complete truck along with spare front and rear fenders for $400. It is located 9 hrs away on a good day. I'm sure pulling a trailer would increase the trip to 11 or 12 hrs each way. This price is only good till the snow flies so if anyone closer to that neck of the woods is interested I can get you the contact info. I myself am still contemplating the whole thing?

Kusto,
Is that truck at Flatla Auto Wreckers (got a great deal on a 54 Pontiac Grille from him) or from Ron Thiessen (got a set of 51 Meteor headlight bezels through him).
Both were great deals.
BTW - If anyone is looking for a set of 51 Ford headlight bezels to give their stock grille a frenched look, let me know. I know a guy out in the US midwest with a pair for $100. Not a great price, but they aren't that easy to find...

Hey Bobby, them emblems look SO COOL! That's the first thing I thougt of when I seen them 500 emblems. How cool is that!! I didn't know that the old caddy had EFI stuff??I do know that Edelbrock makes a port fuel injection setup that works like your'e talkin about. I know that the late model 4.9's were like that too. That would be so cool if you could make that work with the EFI stuff!! Keep us informed on your progress! And share some of the cookies!!
