Trying to remove a starter from my 99 Ford F-150 5.4L V-8. Cant get the top bolt off. Anyone know of any tricks to removing the top bolt? Very difficult to get to. I am trying to remove this as I am posting so any quick info or tricks would be really helpful

 

It's a pain to get to. I can't remember exactley what i used to get up there, but if you've got some extensions and swivles you should be able to get up there.

 

You have to feed your evtensions through the front of the motor and maybe be a swivel or two. It's not the easiest thing to get to but if you take your time you can reach it.

I have heard of many people leave that bolt out when replacing the starter.

Thanks for the replys guys, sorry for not responding, i took your advice, and went from the front of the motor with an extension, and a swivel... and got it! Man, they sure didnt want to make it easy ugh! starter is in, and all is well.
