Transfer case spotter's guide?

Hi guys! I got a quick one I couldn't pull up from a search of the postings -- my owner's manual tells me I gotta 1345 or 1356 peanut. How can I tell which one? And which is the more desirable unit?

Thanks!

1345 was first, C6 and T 19 trucks had them.
1356 was used mostly in the overdrive equipped trucks.

No real advantage to either one over the other in my book.

Right on -- mine must be a 1356 then -- what's the diff between 'em?

Thanks!

After I split my 1345 I asked my driveline guy if I should upgrade to the 1356.
His answer was it was not worth the swap to change.

Since my 1345 was laying on the floor in two pieces when he said that, I just dismissed the thought and never went any farther with the discussion.
