I've never heard of a 6.6 diesel other than the duracrap/GMC, 6.9, 7.3, and 7.8 are the only ones I know of. Couldn't quite read the whole engine sticker, but the HP rating of 170, could make it a 6.9 (160-170@3300), but that engine was discontinued in 1988???? helluva deal though, 3500 for a 5 ton diesel cube van with low miles is a steal, where I am.

Maybe some one else can shead some light on what possible engine is in there (kind of curious myself).

My guess is a C7 Cat engine.

I can see valve lash specs on the sticker, so it is not an IDI engine.

A quick search for info turned up a chart: ARB Approved Engine Families for the PCRT™ Particulate Filter

The chart showed engine ID LFM07.8EPC7 as a Ford engine, manufactured in 1990. There were cat, cummins, navistar, mercedes, isuzu, gm, hino ect. all listed.

I also found a used Ford 6.6 on truckpartsinventory.com

that is the ford 6.6 liter inline 6 cylinder diesel. it is the smaller brother of the more popular 7.8 liter ford Brazilian diesel. it is kinda underpowered for a truck that size.

watch for oil leaks, especially near the cooler.
watch the oil pressure. the oil pumps are getting hard to find.

dont overheat it. they blow head gaskets when thet get real hot.
about the only thing you can do to make it run better is open up the exhaust, and let it get plenty of air intake. other than that, there is really not much more you can get out of these engines .

removing the muffler will let it rev up a little faster, but not by much.

So they can't be turbocharged reliably?
