Old and new 302 intake swap

I have a 1995 EFI 302 but do not have the EFI stuff except for the intake manifold. Can I install my old carb. intake setup from my old 1972 302 and run like this until I gather all the parts for the EFI install?
thanks!

Yea, but you'll also need a steel cam gear on the points distributor to match the roller cam in the 95 motor. The TFI distributor has a steel gear but has to have the computer working to tell it when to adavance the timing, otherwise it will run, just won't run like it should.

Hi and Welcome to the site!

Nothing I can add to the above, but when you do gather all the needed parts we have some very knowledgeble folks here who can help you with your EFI install. Good info here as well:

Thanks guys or the info! Do you know if the gear from the new distributor will fit on the old distributor? I managed to get it from the guy I got the engine from.

I checked out that link and it is loaded with good stuff.
Thanks Again!

make sure the intake gasket covers the cooling port on the front of the heads. Use gaskets for the heads not the intake......

Ford distributors used two diameter shafts, as for whether the steel gear you have will fit another distributor? You've got a 50% chance it will.
