I drove a lifted F250 with a built 300-6 and c6 auto, 35" tires, dragging a Subaru wagon on a trailer from CT to WA, 3600miles. Total weight leaving CT was 11,500lbs, and didn't drop below 35 on the mountain passes.
Hauled a 70 F100 on my own trailer from Cle Elum to here, about 150miles, over Snoqualmie Pass, didn't get below 45 either way. Not bad for a bone stock 69 F250, 300-6, c4 auto, 4.10 gears, 34" tires in the back.

Best story I ever saw is that some guy posted on this site about a year or so ago that he installed a 300 inline six in his 4X4 Ranger. Now that is a truck to be coveted!

Ran my 77s 300 without coolant - cracked thermostat housing.
Ran it with very little oil - I don't know where the qt a week went.
Trailered 40 foot Hawaiian racing canoes all over O'ahu every weekend during the racing season.
Drove it in Honolulu traffic for many years - that is a story in itself.
300s were the most durable engines in Ford LTs.

I had some carb work done on the 300, i was with my dad test driving it that night i got it back. So i tell my dad , " whana see me spin the tires(33") on this beast". Of course he doesnt think it will happen. So i rev the engine and dump the clutch at about 2200 rpm. The whole truck lurched forward and then stopped with the sound of a M80 going off. Needless to say i got home driving in front wheel drive. i decided to tear into it late that night and and found that the pinion gear had twisted right off the of the shaft.
i guess it was all that torque.

No real storys to tell. Pulled a full minor stumps though, which I thought was cool since I'm geared pretty high. I use it for work so I can say it's a tough motor. 208,000 miles. Love it!

My 92 F-150 with 3.08s and 5speed once pulled a 75 F-250 with about 90% of it hills. it was tough but the old 6 did it without it overheating. Hell i only burn about 1/4 tank going 44 miles. It also pulled my 66 mustang 200 miles it was fairly flat but it pulled it like there wasnt anything there at all. The only thing i didnt like is that my pickup was squats like low when you tow anything

I was at the boat dock once when a Chevy 2500 backed into the water so far it stalled and would not start. I pulled out the truck with a water filled bed and a 16' fishing boat. I smoked the clutch a little and spun the tires; but, got up the ramp.

I got a tree hung up in my yard when i was cutting them down. hooked up the ole ranger to the tree via a rope and couldn't budge that tree. My buddy hooked up his 04 sport trax and it came right down... I was pi$$'d.

Taking my old "p.o.s" looking truck with a 300, 4 speed SROD {.82} finals and 2.75 rears and stomping ricers light to light. I only shift twice to 60+, they shift 3+ times!!
Also love telling guys with newer trucks that are loaded with elec engine controls and fuel injection that only get 13 to 17 mpg that I get 19+ highway @ 70 with a 1bbl CARBURETOR!!

I had a 78 F150 4 spd in 84. Was at local (small town festival ) . I was going to redo the truck so I didn't care if broke anything . I entered the truck pull .

Lock it in 4x4 and away I went . Just dumb luck I came in 3 rd. Those 300 will hold together in 2nd floored .

Also bought a truck with 300-6 with really bad low end noise . My good truck broke and ran the noisy 1 . I put another 70000 miles on truck knocking away .

Hauled a skidsteer with F250 with 300-6 . Did better than 351 on the hills not faster but better.

I now know better and don't beat my trucks . and these truck were 1 step away from pepsi . But the 300-6 is just 1 of those engines that are remarkable.
