new shocks

Hay Fellas,
I'm putting new shocks on my truck front and back. Somewhere I remember a post about putting on "shorties," on the front. Need your input. I've changed hte frontend too Midfifties leaf removal diagram. Could I put shorties on the front or still run a stock shock? Also, in the rear I have changed to a stock mono leaf setup as well as mounting the front bracket up on the frame. do I use stock shocks for this as well, Thank fella's. The '54 is comin along!
