Fuel Filter Replacement

So I've seen numerous posts about the difficulty of replacing the fuel filter on the frame rail, but haven't seen details on what the difficulty is. I'm about ready to replace my filters and was wondering if someone could give me the lowdown on what the difficulty is and any tips to make things easier and/or keep from busting something when I swap it out. Thanks!

From what i understand its the same fuel filtration system as the 6.0L including the same filters. I havent done a set yet on a 6.4 however the only problem you run into with 6.0L is the mess the fuel filter on the frame rail makes, the fuel goes everywhere including you and on the ground lol. I would think thats what everyones talking about.

6.4L uses a different fuel filter kit then the 6.0L. The 6.4L uses Racor PFF5550 or Motorcraft FD-4609.

The primary filter down on the frame is still the same. The secondary filter up top has changed.

if you have a reg cab most likely the wire harnes will be in the way. mine was and the dealer relocated the harness. this is the one on the rail under drivers seat.
