Bull Bars

Whats your opinion on Bull Bars? Do they enhance the look of the truck or just plain ugly. Are they even practical or just cosmetic. Personal choice no doubt if you like or dislike. How much do they cost on average and what does it take to put those things on your truck?

I may not have a superduty, but i have a bull bar. This bar would still fit on a superduty though. I bought it at www.summitracing.com. The company that produces it is called Force. It only took like a half an hour to install. Alls u have to do is unscrew the four bolts that hold the bumper on. Then u attach the brackets that hold the bull guard together. After that u screw the bolts back on.

Ugly. Only use is for mounting lights, but too many of them make the lights stick out further than the bar or the bumpers.

In my opinion, the they mostly serve a cosmetic purpose. As whiteEx said, only physical function is to add a mount point for lights, which in turn would allow the lights to serve a function. I would stress that they add almost no structural strength

Personally I like them on the SD. As has been said, they are purely cosmetic and only provide a mounting point for additional lighting. IEH is right on target with how mine mounts. Pretty simple install. Check out my gallery if you want to see how it looks. Mine is a Westin bull bar.

Bull Bar

you should check out bumperdude.com
they make a full bumper replacement bullbar. looks real good on a SD
the shop that builds them is in the hill country of TEXAS and they make a much better product than Ranchhand, plus their stuff is made in the good ol USA not China

I have the Westin Bull bar....and I will admit, it is mostly just for mounting the lights. It won't do much to save your frontend if you hit anything. I have a couple small dings from parking posts haha. Mostly they are cosmetic, which isn't a bad thing.....I think they look great with KC's mounted on em. The Westin will only hold 6" lights, not sure about other brands though. I am looking into squeezing a 6.5" light kit onto it though. Took me about 20 minutes to mount it by myself, just mounts up with the same bolts that the bumper uses. It seems that around here, tons of guys are using the Fabtech light bar, which has no structural use either, other then mounting lights up, but it sticks wayyy out past the bumper!

How do they hold up the road salt? Do they pit and rust easily?

they don't salt a whole bunch in AZ.....but they do put cinders, which scratches a vehicle FAST. No marks at all on the Bull bar though.

Our shop's got a bunch of pics and customer reviews for bull bars here: http://motorhaven.autoanything.com/grille-guards/10A50168.aspx

They are pretty easy to install, just a few screws like ieathybrids said.

i think there stupid and for mostly cosmetic reasons. most are not sturdy and will just bend if you try to push something with it. If you want a bullbar i think just replace the bumber with somthin heavy duty. There a waste of money if you ask me...

I agree they are mostly for looks and adding lights
I had one before I got a replacement bumper
Oh and I mounted the lights on the top bar to retain the use of the factory fog lights
