Hensley Mfg. is a company built on the principle that “acceptable” isn’t good enough. When Colin Connell bought his first travel trailer in 1993 and discovered something called “trailer sway,” he was ready to give up towing altogether. But then someone introduced him to an inventor named Jim Hensley, who’d developed a remarkable contraption that would eliminate, not just dampen, trailer sway. Colin was so impressed he gathered a group of investors and launched what is now known as the Hensley Arrow.
In 2005, Hensley Mfg. took a new turn. After 12 years of working only with travel trailers, Colin decided to offer something to the 5th wheel market. The owner of TrailerSaver contacted him and offered his company for sale. Colin knew that his reputation depended on the quality and performance of his products, so he thoroughly checked out this 5th wheel hitch company before making a commitment. What he found was that TrailerSaver’s reputation in the fiver marker matched the Arrow’s in the travel trailer market. The deal was done. Hensley now offered the absolute top of the line towing products for anything with wheels.
Since then, Hensley has expanded into the brake controller market as well, using the same philosophy: Good enough in never good enough, we’ll make the best or nothing at all.
