7.3 Vs 6.0

Ok here is what i found about my rig verses a comperably equiped 6.0( CC Long box 6 speed 4x4) the 6.0 is faster out of the hole, but doesn't take long for me to catch up and pass. I believe I am faster in a 1/4 mile because I'm passing him at about 60 mph. Another thing. From about 50 mph up, I don't downshift hardly ever to either pass or race. you can't do that in a 6.0. That motor loves RPMS. Once that boost comes alive in my 7.3. . . . my buddies 6.0 cant hold on. We'll get a further report when I do my compound turbo.

Well, your sig line is pretty long, what does your friends sig line look like? That will tell more of a story. All things being equal, the 7.3 which has a larger displacement should have a flatter torque curve at crusing speed.

Luke, nope, don't hate them, just tired of hearing how much more superior to the 6.0 they are.

Now on to the original post, If you think that a compairable equipped 6.0 (larger injectors, better fuel system, SCT tuner, exhaust) will lose to a 7.3, well then, I think your just an idiot, plain and simple, thats not hate, it is just a fact.

Hiflyer746: I also noticed you have a 6 speed. I guarantee you if you put your truck up against a similarly modded 6.0 with a torque shift you wont keep up with it....

buddies truck

there are a few 7.3 haters. My friends I told you that it was a comperably equipted truck. CC LB 6 Spd 4X4. He has a 175 HP custom Mach 7 from hypermax. Thats also why I said his truck will beat me off the line. . . but I will beat him in the long run. I don't mince words or lie to win. I either win or loose. There is no doubt that it takes a hell of a lot more money to get a 7.3 to win over a 6.0. And yes a 6 speed against an auto requires about 100 more horse to be competitive. All I'm saying is that when my engine breathes. . . . . it really breathes. The 6.0 just needs more RPM to breathe like mine.

one more thing

One more thing I forgot. . . . our truck are the same down to the gears and the tire size. The only difference is what is bolted to the front of the tranny.

I not ABOUT to get into a 6 vs 7.3 discussion when LukeCline is in the thread
Talk about comparing vw's to corvette's

BUT.... stock to stock the base 7.3 is rated @ 235 hp ? the 6.0 @ 325 ?

'splain to me how the extra displacment makes up for 90 HP difference ?

Promise you I've had both, stock - tuned - whatever...
"similarly equipped" there's not much of a contest....
unless the driver of the 6.0 is not much of a driver

And from your friends choice of chips, I would be concerned that that 175 HP chip is not really 175 hp

Ya know years ago when I got old enough where all I could do was pitch...
I had a no-hitter in a slow pitch softball tourney...

while I usually threw hard to hit stuff... it's STILL slow pitch

says more about the other team than my pitching

well i cant remember wat year it was up'ed power, but the 7.3 id make 250 hp and 520 lbs wen it did leave. but if its a 2000 model year then yeah it was 235 horses. but the 6.0 does have 32 valves comparing to the 7.3s 16 valve so keep that in mind.

Blah Blah Blah....Running a 7.3L against a 6.0l will not prove anything, the 7.3 is reliable but not as efficient as the smaller but more efficient 6.0L. Every engine get phased out with time and upgrades in technology, why cant people just realize that?

Oh and before I ever see another "7.3L is crap compared to the 6.0L"...I want to see approved and documented test results showing the differences instead of people just lieing out there AZZ.

Well don't the 7.3 make more power with all the aftermarket goodies on them? so doesn't that show right there that newer is not better in all cases? i'm pretty sure like the top 5 fastest powerstrokes are 7.3's

The 6.0 with a good tuner and exhuast will make more power then a 7.3 with 5k worth of turbo and injectors, it is new tech versus 20 year old tech, plain and simple. The 7.3 is a simpler, bigger, slower turning motor which may expain it's longevitiy.
