PULLING with a V10

OK guy's I have a 2000 SD 4x4 with 3:73 gears, V10 motor. I'm pulling a 30' 5th wheel around 11,000#. Would you go with the 4:10 or 4:30. I also have a gear vendor (overdrive-underdrive). It's helps but needs a little more poop. Thanks

Can't speak from personal experience because I have a 3v, but a lot of the old timers say that if you're towing heavy there's very little mpg difference between the 4.10 and the 4.30, and they invariably recommend the 4.30 for the increased performance.

Might try a search on 4.30....

Go with the 4.30 gears and be sure to tell use they work with the gear vendors.

If your pulling that kind of weight go with 4.30's otherwise you will wish you went larger.

I had an '02 with the 4.30s--it would pull pretty good, just sucked for mileage. Loaded, I only got about 7-8mpg, rarely 9.
