From what I am told, the US built vehicle with the highest percentage of domestic sourced parts is the.........(drum roll please)...............the Toyota Tundra.
We've been down that road with him before, it just all ends up the same in the end.

You can paint any face on it you would like, but the fact is all of toyota,s profits go to japan, Our companies are crushed under never ending UAW demands as the foreign maker get a free pass on the union. You boy's want to make your self feel better by saying it's all good, then your just fooling yourselfs. It's not all good, your proping up a foreign economy while our auto industry is in the tank. Then you come on a ford site to brag about it, who's the idiot?

'O', and get your facts straight, it was ford, GM and toyota that uses over 70% american parts, don't put yoda on a pedistol. They have a game plan to be seen as an american company: hence NASCAR, while infact thier trying to destroying american companies and still sending the profits to japan.

And who's fault is that, Wendell?
Blame the UAW, GM, Ford, Chrysler, AMC and the US Government. They all stood idly by, while the Japanese built assembly plants in rural areas, and did nothing.
Why?
Arrogance.
I asked a former Ford V.P. that once, and his response was that everyone thought the Japanese were a joke, building plants for their sardine can sedans. In other words, they figured the ppl would grow tired of econoboxes, and the Japanese would just fold the tent and head back to Japan with their tails between their legs.
In other words, no one gave a damn about the Japanese...then.

Well, I think you need to study some basic economics before making statements like this.
Profits do not "go to Japan". No more so than profits from Mopar, GM or Ford go to the US. Profits go to the shareholders of the corporation. Sure, the head of the corporation may be in Japan, but the corporate office is a very miniscule percentage of overall monies in the corporation. If Osama Bin Laden owned 5000 shares of Ford, then part of the profits from your vehicle would go to him!
You cannot label a car based on where the corporate HQ is located. Is a GM vehicle built in China still an American vehicle? How about a Ford assembled in UK? A Ford truck assembled in Mexico? A GM assembled in Australia? Is a Mercedes assembled in the US a German car?
Also, if you want to delude yourself into thinking all the problems in the US automobile industry are a result of the UAW you really need to get out more. Ford and Chrysler are starting to show a glimmer of spark, but the US automobile industry is not offering what the public wants. The top 10 best selling vehicles in 2005:
1. Ford F-Series (includes F-150, F-250 Super Duty and F-350 Super Duty) 901,463
10. Chevrolet TrailBlazer and TrailBlazer EXT 244,150
2 of the top 10 selling vehicles in this country are "Big 3" cars. 3 of the top 5 are "Big 3" trucks. This tells me that the "Big 3" are not building cars that the US public wants to purchase. Oh, by the way, the only reason the Impala and Malibu make the top 10 at all is because of rental car company purchases.
Lastly, please try to keep this discussion out of the "name calling" realm.

Guy's lets make this short and sweet, no matter how you cut the cake, it's still cake, We have 3 of our qon american car companies, ford, chrysler and GM. The rest are foreign. Our companies are struggling and for alot of reasons while the japanese aren't. People in this area depend hevaily on the U.S automotive industry. You can try and justify it all you want, but if your not part of the solution, then your part of the problem. It's a free county, you can buy what ever you like or want, but it doesn't mean the rest of us that it effects have to like it. We can go back and fourth all day who makes what and who's money is who's, whatever. That won't kkep jobs for people in my area as it has for a hundred years. You don't have to care about us as it's becoming a me me world. I'm just trying to look out for my friends, family and neigbors, if thats a crime, then shoot me. We have families to feed like everyone else. Sorry your thread got out of hand, it's just a raw subject in this area, "sorry".
