Getting some misc. items completed now that the leaf springs are out of the way.

Completed boxing the frame to just behind the transfer case at the x-member. I have to add some angles into the x-member still, but I think that it may need some clearance for the u-joint first... we will have to look at that...

Added some PVC to pull wires through the frame...

Working on a lower frame cradle to achieve a favorable roll axis angle for the lower link.

Checking feasibility of going to a 3-link system...

Either way, started fabricating a front axle truss....

Thinking the Government stimulus plan is working is like thinking that taking water form the deep end of a pool and dumping it in the shallow end will raise the water level of the pool.

Looking GOOD.

Look at the option of a triangulated 4 link. Upper links off the frame to the axle. Lower links from the axle angling in so links mount side by side on/under the transmission mount.

Triangulated keeps you from really needing a panhard bar - plus you can still articulate well.

I'll try and grab those pics of my buddies setup today.

If that pump and filters stay in that location... I will build an aluminum diamond plate guard of some sort to protect them. I have the remote oil filters in a similar place on the opposite side, so I will have to do the same there.

Looked at the triangulated option, but the oil pan gets in the way... the other issue was bump steer, with a properly set up panhard you can eliminate most of that.

I'm seeing quite a few radious arms and such with heims on both ends? WTF... isn't anyone concerned about bind in articulation?

Bind in articulation with heims??? so you're saying you get less bind from bushings????

In most heims/uniballs have about 27* of rotation when used with high mis alignment spacers. What else out there gives this much clearance on rotation while giving the strength that either of these parts do?

Also - I'd love to see a panhard bar suspension cycled that does move sideways through the cycle.

The bronco I sent you an email about had the front axle moveing side to side over 1.5" through the cycle. F that!! Not gonna have it on my vehicles!!

Not to interupt but... I think what HRDROKN is going for is the same articulation from the steering link and the PHB. I dealt with these 2 options for several years before finaley scraping both ideas for a rack and pinion with fiberglass monoleafs and double knuckled hangers and shaved about 150lbs off the front end. You can buy some big aftermarket ps 1's for less than $300. That's the only way to completely eleminate bumpsteer. Then triangulate or PHB. Does the oil pan get in the way if the upper links center clear mounted near the tranny crossmember?

You may be right.

In the bronco application I was talking about - neither it, nor the drive shaft were an issue. In our application - they might be...

This is an awesome build, I am thoroughly impressed with it. I was watching Trucks this morning and they are doing a body swap - 79 (I think) Crew cab onto a late model Dodge dually frame. Of course they took the easy way out, yours will be much more impressive considering all the fabricating you are doing.

This might be a stupid question, but here goes. Is there any reason you have to put the two triangulated links on the top? Can they go on the bottom with the parallel links on top? I've only seen the parallel's on bottom and triangulated's on top, If so, it should give you enough room for the oil pan and such?
