325/60/18.. Help

Hey guys..

Looking to buy my wheels/tires here in the next few days.

The wheels I'm wanting to use are the Procomp 1079's. I'm undecided on size though, being 17x9 or 18x9.

If I go with the 18's, they will have 4.75" of BS and the tires would be 325/60/18. Will these clear?

I'm not worried about the 17" combo I have in mind, I know for sure that they will clear.

I am worried that the 18" combo may not clear and will end up rubbing. I do plan on doing some minor offroading, so keep that in mind.

Any help would be appreciated.

i am running 325/60/18 nitto terra grapplers right now (until i sell them for 35's).... anyhow, they are mounted on pro comp 9005 series (5" backspacing). with a 2.5" leveling kit installed, they did run ever so slightly on the front bumper valance. i trimmed about 1/2" x 2" off each side, and they are fine. i havent offroaded yet though. if you run less backspacing, then then they will stick out further, and that would most certainly rub on the bumper. these tires are about 13" wide, so it is up to you how far you want them sticking out, but with my setup, they stick out almost 2 inches from the fender. you can check my gallery for pics to see this. keep in mind though, my tires are for sale if you are really interested in running this combo.

Thanks. I was checking out your gallery earlier and liked how the combo turned out. I wasnt sure of the BS of your wheels though, so knowing that mine have less BS (although only .25"), sounds like they may not work out to well and might be to tight to take offroad.

Hmm.. maybe I'll just end up going with the 17's.

since you are only .25" different on the BS, i think you might be ok.... but of coures, you will need just a little more trimming than i did.... i showed a pic in my gallery where i had to trim, and it seriously wasnt that much at all !!!

I'm pretty much in the same boat with the tires, size and backspacing - pics in the gallery. Had to trim just a sliver off the front bumper valance - literally 60 seconds with a sanding disk on a 4" grinder - nothing that you would ever notice.

thanks guys.. maybe I'll look into the 18" package a bit more then. The offroad is what really has me worried, even though it'll just be minor offroading through the desert and whatnot.

I just like how the 17" setup wouldnt rub at all, but I do feel a bit more confident about the 18's now.

decisions decisions. The bigger tire is calling my name..lol
