<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">Hi: I am new to this site and Fords. I have always had Dodge trucks. Triplets gave way to the need for an SUV. Love the 2007 Expedition. I have the xlt with 3500 miles on it. The only changes are 20in wheels with 285 tires. Since the begining I noticed a vibratrion on shift changes while accererating. I can feel the vibration through the gas pedel last only for a sec and stops on shift change. The vibration is also sometimes there at highway speeds (80mph). This vibration was there prior to changing ou the tires wheels. Some people I aske say Welcome to Ford it is normal. Never had such vibration on any other car/truck.

I have had other problems with my 07 but not this one (so far). Someone here may be able to help figure out what it is.

 

Now that I think about it, I had a 73 T bird that I installed in a rebuilt torque converter in and it did the very same thing you have. Then during a transmission rebuild I replaced the converter and the problem stopped. I guess the rebuilt converter was out of balance. It may be that the engine or torque converter is out of balance which does not happen very often on a new car, but it can happen. If this is the problem, it should be looked at ASAP as this condition will cause problems with the engine or transmission later on down the road. This is not normal and in any case, I would take it to the dealer to have it looked at.

 

I represent Ford and I am not aware of a shift-change vibration concern like you described in the 2007 Expedition. I would recommend that you take your Expedition to your dealership for an inspection. They would be in the best position to assist you in diagnosing and correcting your concern. since you represent Ford, are you aware of the transmission problems that people are having with the 07 expedition? Mine has been in 3 or 4 times for the same problem and each time it doesnt fix it. Has Ford found a solution? I read on either this forum or another one, that some are getting new transmissions put in.

I hope this person will take the time to read all these posts and see that REAL people are having REAL problems with their new 07 Expedition and I am sure Lincoln gators too as they are for the most part just a fancy Expedition.

I hope this person also understands that this is not a "Ford bashing" forum, but for the most part Ford people that want to remain Ford people in the future, but may be starting to ask questions as to why.

I know I am and I have had always driven Ford products since 1967, but now for the first time, I am looking around at other manufacturers dealers to see what they have to offer me for my next one.

I think the time taken to read these posts would be time well spent, even if you don't reply.

I have had a similar problem come up in my 07 Expy. At 2800-3100 RPM's is when I feel this vibration in the gas pedal and steering wheel. This happens at any speed, and when the engine is under load, going up hill, etc. It has not done this before. Prior to this you couldn't tell the engine was on it was so smooth.

 

Glad to see I wasn't going crazy. Has anyone found out what this vibration is or the fix. What happend to the guy who works for Ford. I have seen the exact posting response to other questions. Seems like a "canned" response.

 

the guy claiming to be a ford rep is new and has only posted two times, and both times had the same response. Whether he is with ford or not, he obviously doesnt have an answer about anything, and probably wont even look into the issue.

The poster may be a valid FOMO employee, because the way their sales are going it would be a great customer relations move to have an omnibusman on the forums.

However, it may be a min-wage person with no real knowledge or interest except to refer complaintants to their dealer and corporate hotline, in which case having a rep here will probably create more antagonism than not.

In that case a stupid move by Ford.

I'm thinking of buying an '08 but all the problems are holding be back to keeping my '01's. I don't want to put up with a lot of frustration when mine are running OK right now.

 

Try varying the engine speed in N while going down the road.

 

No vibration while doing this.

 

Vibrations may result from a number of things, including wheels out of balance, tires out of round, improper inflation, driveline geometry, to name a few. In order to resolve any of these vibration or other service issues, Ford Motor Company's recommendation is to have a factory trained technician at a Ford Dealer diagnose the concern. Routine diagnostics will include checking wheel balance, tire inflation, tire circumference, driveline geometry, etc. If these routine diagnostics are able to identify the cause of the vibration or service concern repairs will be completed to correct the issue. In addition, our Dealerships have access to the Technical Assistance Hotline. This hotline is staffed with engineers to assist with dealership repair efforts to repair vehicles. Bottom line, a factory trained technician at a Ford Motor Company Dealership needs to see your vehicle, gather the appropriate facts to resolve a service concern.
