2 days driving 2 V10's
I worked at little OT the last couple days driving shuttles for work. I've never driven a V10 for a extended period of time but I must say I'm impressed. The first day it was a older one with the 4 speed tranny. First gear could pull the hide off a donkey 2nd gear was horrible, it did have over 110k maybe that was the problem. If you never driven the 5spd version you might be able to tolerate it some though. The second day was a 06.. wowsers. That 5spd tranny is a perfect match for the V10, I don't know if it was a 2 or 3 valve (can't remember the cutoff date). Ever see a 24 passenger shuttle whip a Pruis and a Honda.. uphill? At least I know what I'll buy when I get my F350.

You sound like you are talking about the people haulers like at airports with the ungodly heavy back ends on either E450 vans or F350 cab chassis conversion
Yes the 4R100 in the 99-04 2v V10 had a steep jump from 1 to 2 and you would feel it was not a good split for a heavy load
If the 06 has the 5R110w TorqShift then it was mated to a 3v V10 if on a truck chassis but only the 2v V10 if on the Van chassis
And yes the 5R110w transmission makes a LOT of difference in the capabilities of the vehicle
