What is that mechanical linkage just below the air intake? I thought the Common rails were electronic throttle?

APPS - Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, it's a cable from the pedal to the APPS, coverts it to a position signal and then it's electronic into the ECM. Mounted right there from 98.5 to 04. 04.5 and up, its under the battery try, not sure about the newest ones though.

Oh, I thought the position sensor was mounted right onto the pedal itself, inside the cab, guess not then

5.9Excursion - where did you get your new engine from. I'm getting ready to do the same swap in my 96 but I've been hesitant about getting a junk yard motor.

A guy on ebay was selling a bunch of them (leftovers from when Dodge switched from the 305 hp to the 325 hp. He had hundreds of them in the warehouse in Toledo, OH when I picked it up. He sold them all pretty quick though...

Update - all the progress pics and info can be found here

http://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/showthread.php?t=176490

I've had it on the road for about a month now. Still some small details to work thru but its been very cold. I got a smarty loaded onto it and it is a blast to drive now. Stock power level was just that, didn't impress me. But with the smarty on #8 or #9 it is alot of fun to drive. I just got my V10 sold so some Formula One Flux 1.8 injectors are on their way. Should add another 100 hp or so. Some more pics...

Awesome.

You're making me rethink my 7.3.

If you were going to do this swap for someone, how much time would it take and how long?

It took me a month to do mine (2 weeks off from work) and every available moment outside of work for the other 2 weeks. Now that I've done it before it would go much faster (maybe in two solid weeks).

Did you use alot of Destroked parts? I'm doing this in the winter, or sooner if the engine fails and i'm SOL. Did you build up the engine any? I'm assuming not, as you are only shooting for 550 now, which doesnt require any internal mods. Still running a stock CP3?

Also, is the tranny controller a PCS controller, or is it something that comes with the dodge transmission? Did you have to do alot of custom fabbing aside from what you bought?

You need to put a 3rd gen C badge on the doors where the PSD emblem would normally go on the trucks.

I'm curious on what kind of mileage you're hitting?
