Headers Help!

1997 F250 4X4 5.8L ,my truck was built in Oct 1996.According to my speed shop guys, headers with a single air injection port on the back of each manifold are not available for this vehicle.Does anyone know if this is true or not?

Ford Racing makes a set and so does JBA.

JBA Header

Ford Racing Header

I have a 95 F 350 with the 5.8 that I put headers on and these are the only two that I could find at the time. It sucks because you can get a set for the lower GVW trucks much cheaper. Anyway, I hope this helps.

Headers for the light duty trucks will work fine as long as you are up to changing or removing the air injection system. The F150 has the injection at the back of the head on the 5.8, so the parts to convert are available.

Thanks for the quick response,I called Ford performance and got a header on order with the correct air-injection fittings for my application.50% of the cost of new exhaust manifolds.

You done good on the price then. Then again, I bought mine from a Ford Stealership. I put the FR shorties on my 5.0 when both my mani's broke beteen 2/3 and 6/7. I think the 5678 side actually came off in 3 pieces. I didn't get to see. I let the dealer install them because I didn't have the time. That was a HUGE mistake. They destroyed an engine bay I'd been taking care of for 14 years, and introduced a ton of intake leaks by pinching vac lines and leaving the support for the intake off. I sent photos back to the stealer himself, and told 'em they could restore the condition of my engine bay or talk to my lawyer right after I stopped payment on the credit card. They even cut around a bolt that was a little rusted below the battery tray, and left the fender liner flapping at the front edge. This is a part that's no longer manufactured, so they had to do some digging to get a used one from a salvage yard. Seems the most common place for a ford truck to take a collision in these parts is the right front quarter panel. They punctured the vac reservoir for the EGR and thermactor pump valves trying to PRY it off the fender (one screw holding it on). They mangled my dip stick tube to the point it's very hard to put the dip stick back in with two hands. I used to just drop it in and tap it down whenever I checked oil.

Apparently you're putting them on yourself. At least you'll get good work that way.
