Well, for one thing I don't feel I'm an expert on anything ...but then again...I am quite surprised to see a 5300 lb axle installed on an F350 with GVWR of 8550 lbs

From the photo ...I knew it was B4A from the start but, I just got on the computer for today thus not commenting until now

I stand corrected. Not the first time this has happened and it definitely won't be the last.

This code proves that Ford made one, and prolly more.

I gave you Rep points for your effort, Sir.

Positive ones.

Mine is axle code B4 also, it is a Dana 60-IIRC the 70 has a 4 pinion differential. Mine is a reg 2 pinion. The '79 F350 4x4 has always seemed left out of many books, one yr only deal I guess-the factory service manuals even have limited info on this model.

Does any one out there know any thing about the 1977 F350 XLT Camper Special with the rare side compartment spare tire? If it's just another Ford or does it have a value?

Your truck is called a super camper special or SCS in FTE speak and yes besides the spare there are a few other distinguishing things on your truck and yes it is one of the rare'er trks

I saw a f350 tow truck on Ebay, that advertised the truck as rare as it had a dealer installed tow bed and equipment? probably still used aftermarket parts, how many aftermarket parts distributors there were 30-40 years ago. Sheesh

what would this truck be considered? "super crew"? its like...a crew cab with the "supercab" extension on it. i doubt this is aftermarket cuz its the third one i have seen. there was actually one of these by where i used to work. it was a 2wd dually though. still looked really neat. even had an 8ft styleside dually bed!!

I agree with 78 f250 supercab. I would find it hard to believe that there were more regular cab 350 4x4's than supercabs. as far as 73-79 as a whole the , supercabs were only made for 2 years in 4x4 and the regular cab 350 4x4 only for 1 year , so they both are rare in there own right. mine is a 78 F250 supercab 4x4 xlt lariat with camper speical package from the factory ( dana 60 front axle) pictures are in my gallery. It has to be in the top 5 of the rarest factory built 73-79's.

My 1977 F350 XLT Camper Special runs on propane with the side spare tire compartment. Some one mentioned that it was one of the rarer trucks out there what else is rare about it? I'm thinking about letting it go and what would it be worth?

I have a 1974 F350 Super Camper Special, Ranger XLT, A/C, Cruise, 460/C6 Dana 70, and it has the orange running lights on the cab.

1 out of 100 would be lower than even today's output of Manual transmission trucks, I would venture to say that 30-40% of these trucks had a manual transmission.
