does anyone have a real "good" quality picture of the firewall mounted vin plate? mine is in real rough shape...all i can make out is my number...yet i need to know exactly what the rest of it says... u can block out ur vin number if u choose..just need the printing... can they be bought anywhere? and have the numbers stamped in?

Seems like I saw a pic in the front of a Dennis Carpenter catalogue. It was a close up in the section explaining how to decipher the VIN.

What you're looking for is actually called the "Data Plate" that's pinned to the firewall.

It is reproduced and available from a variety of vendors.

The glovebox plate is the "Rating Plate" and is not duplicated by anyone as far as I know.

I've got a cheap set of punches so I did my own. Then I placed it on the firewall beside the original - only thing missing is the true 'star' at the ends of the string.

I got mine from Sacramento Vintage Ford. Called the Patent Data Plate on p 317 of their 2002 catalog. It was only a couple of bucks.

Only details on it are the Patent numbers and the vin/serial string.
