Suspension Problem

I was on my way to ATCO raceway this morning, 10/14 to run my truck in the Yesteryear Drags. I was northbound on Rt 13 in New Castle near the Beaverbrook Shopping ctr, when I heard a loud bang, then something scraping the blacktop.

I pulled over to analyze the situation to find the suspension on the right front had failed and parts of the body were dragging.

A couple of hours later back in my garage, after an expensive tow job, I found a broken shock in the coil-over-shock suspension. Also the weld that secures the bracket for the upper connection of the coil-over had cracked completely off.

I should be able to replace the shock quickly, but I am in need of someone with a portable welder and experience to weld a piece of suspension. I can move the truck, but I can't drive it until I can get that piece welded.

Access to that location is difficult, but not impossible.

I plan to call the manufacturer of the suspension and ask about my options.

I have been talking to the customer service people at the company that made the suspension. I am trying to make the case that it was faulty parts that caused the failure. It is a tough sell, since it has been 8 years, since the suspension was installed, but I have some evidence.
I am waiting for the General Manager to weigh-in.

I got replacement parts yesterday. Now I have to get it to a shop and get it welded. It was no-charge replacement. They said it was due to having the wrong pressure coil springs. That was their fault, because I bought a kit. They still owe me a second coil spring for the left side. That shipped on 10/23. I need to get the weld on the left side checked as well.

When are we going to Cecil? I hope to be running this coming week.

My insurance covered the flatbed towing. I'll have to cough up the cost of welding the new bracket in.
