Good link George, the All Truck Nationals would seem the likely time to hold it. It has been my understanding that if you propose to rent a hotel or motel you should do it early, they book up rather quickly.

We live in the Land Of The Free...BECAUSE of the Brave! My humble thanks to all Veterans, past and present
This is an amazing undertaking that you folks are proposing here. I've been following the thread since it started. I would love to be able to participate...however...Carlisle is better than an 8 hour ride from my place...lifes pressures prevent me from commiting more than 1 day to an event...so...unfortunately I'm out. Cooperstown at 3 1/2 hours would have been do-able.
I will be with you in spirit and wish you all the success in the world with the planning and execution of this event!!!
Hey BIGKEN, I know what you mean. This is going to be tough trying to please the majority of the members. We have to find that special place where we feel we can have the most attendence.
Cooperstown is 8hrs for me. But if that is where we decide to ultimately to have it then I must make that decision to travel that far. So no matter where it is held, if we want to attend then, we will find a way.
Carlisle is the least expensive alternative to renting a place, insurance, promotion materials, etc, etc, etc.
Perhaps you have a similar event you know of further north that you could offer as a suggestion.
Maybe Joe had the right idea for this first year in that the Mid-Atlantic have a regional meet and the New England Region have a regional meet.
Those FTE'rs who want to attend one or both can do so.
Then based on the success of both of the meets we could see where the participation is and hold a "Big North East" meet the next time.

Lot's of good comments/suggestions. I planned and hosted the "Big June Bash" that was held in...believe it or not...June...check out the thread in the New England Region. I advertised it as a New England GTG...gave plenty of notice...held it in a somewhat central location...gave away $550 worth of tshirts...Red Sox tickets...Nascar tickets...a home entertainment system...digital camera...door prizes...promised everybody a full belly. Had approximately 45-50 trucks and about 100 folks say they were going to show. Actual turnout was 21 trucks and about 50 people.
I did learn a few things, however, from the experience. We started out with an open forum...much as you guys are...soliciting opinions from everyone. This accomplished one thing...and only one thing...confused the situation beyond belief. My suggestion to you folks...made respectfully...form a committee of CLs and a few other active members...and take the planning private. Set a date and an agenda...and then announce it with plenty of time for folks to make plans. You can not please everyone...to try is futile and will cause a lot of hard feelings.
As far as a New England meet...I am planning on hosting a bigger and better "Big June Bash" in 2008. A lot was learned from the last one...I think another one will be very successful.
Sounds like a great idea to me. I am sure Barry, savage2211 will be willing to promote your June Bash for any members wanting to attend. Maybe we would qualify for traveling the furthest. lol
Sean any all FTE members are welcome to attend any meets we have in Delaware or the Mid-Atlantic Region.
I know I speak not only for myself, but for all Mid-Atlantic chapter leaders and members.
