You guys seem to be hitting this early enough... anyone looked into endorsements/sponsors? Any FTE sponsors up that way think they maybe willing to give up a chunk of land and time (and maybe $$)
Fwiw: I'm looking into something similar for the SE (or just SC)- one dealer has a 1.5mil "hand-out" marketing budget (from the PR guy)...
I was told if I can get something in writing soon enough, they may dish out some mulah and Prizes (gave a '06 F150 or 250? away last year)... if this does go through I think I need to get Ken and J involved though.
someone said Cooperstown NY I have a small house ( ok a mobile home) in Deposit NY which really isnt too far from cooperstown or Binghamton. its close to I-81. we have 1.1 acres of land . If you guys think this would be a good location we would volunteer our land. I have a new but small BBQ grille an extra refrigerator and i wouldnt be annoyed if people wanted to pitch tents overnight or something, and there is hotels for those who want a better roof over their heads. Im not sure if this would be to the peoples interest here but its food for thought all id ask is people kick in for food and all cause i cant afford to throw a party on my own the only other caviat would be that my wife is a cancer survivor and is currently in remission.. as long as she continues being healthy shes all for this too we had a great time at Fred's house with the last party and would be happy to recriprocate
FYI, my 2nd Annual WV Truck show is scheduled for Saturday 23 August. Obviously, I need the two weeks prior for last minute prep. Other than that, I'll try and attend.
Just some things to think about logistically:
- Posters are a must...I have one already done that Ken has seen (the one for my show)
- Volunteers to "run"
- portable "talk-about" radios
- PSAs for local Radio/TV stations are very helpful in getting the word out
- Articles for local Newspapers....ditto
- Canopys (for registration tables etc.)
- 6 or 8' folding tables
- folding chairs
- trash barrels
- signage (don't forget banners)
- trophies (if you're having any competitions)
Some additional questions:
- Registration Fee (that's how I covered my costs)
- Hours
- Depending on the size of this thing...do we need any permits?
If you can give me a little more, I'll create a spreadsheet and lay out some of these things.
NOTE**- Once we have a date and a place, I'll e-mail all of the CLs for (1) notification and (2) suggestions.
Joe

Hmmm....according to Google Maps, it's a 10 hour drive. A little over 600 miles. Doable, just need to lock in a schedule date asap so I don't lose it to something else. FYI, I'm involved in politics and next year at that time, we're gonna be busy....so I really need to lock things in early if I'm gonna play.

And since you are maintaining an email addr list of the CL's you could handle the electronic mail for the meet planning.

Insurance is important if you are having an activity. In my case, all we did was display and judge trucks....the owners signed a release of liability when they registered. That's common practice when doing car/truck shows.
Since we are talking about pulls/mud bogging, I'd have to defer to somebody with more knowledge.

Hey gang!! Sorry I haven't been online all weekend due to family stuff.
So if we want to do this we are shooting for late July or early August?
George what are you seeing as a central location? Regardless of if this is at Cooperstown or some place else in NY state, I will have to get another member to handle the logistics as I will be too far away. I will still help in any way that I can.
JMO, I am now thinking it shoud be somewhere in PA maybe centered around one of the truck shows.
If you go with PA, you open up the number of state chapters that will likely participate.
If you go with PA, here are the surrounding states: OH, NY, PA, WV, MD, and NJ.
Close proximity to PA will include: VA, D.C., DE, CT, RI, MA, ME, NH, VT, and Canada.
Not to mention that it would be mucho closer for me to assist with logistics prep for the show. My PERSONAL preferance would be for a show in PA.
