goodwrench is starting off with a positive reputation.
will running with a wacky oxygen sensor

Cause any harm other than gas mileage? If you read my other post i have been fighting a totally stuck o2 sensor, that i have fubared. I read the codes toninght and got three pending, p0135 p1131 p1132. i need to drive it some till i find me a compentent mechanic to help get the old sensor out.. Will i do any harm other than the fuel mileage if i drive it?? I dont want to foul a cat or harm the motor. It seems to run the same, and the exaust doens't seem to smell any different.. So anybody know? Will these problems with the o2 cause any problems if i drive it some??

later!! chris

you dont have to fight getting that o2 out. Get a new sensor and match up a nut with the same threads. Drill a hole about 1 inch away from the old sensor in the exhaust large enough for the sensor probe fit into. Weld the nut over the hole. Install o2 sensor. Plug in. Done. Shouldnt take more than 30 min if you are good.

Or you could just heat the old one with a torch and loosen it.

According to PO 135 it indicates either a short or an open circut. Check to make sure none of the wiring is damaged.

I would say over 90% of damaged cats are due to bad o2 sensors, and that over 90% of those did not have O2 sensor codes. Change the sensor, it costs less than the cat, and also gas isn't cheap these days. You can drive it some, but don't put it off.
