TPS dummy

I got a new TPS for my 97 PSD today. I was told it may help my lundging and shifting problems. I was given a Borg Warner part no. EC3097. I can't find where it is. I know that sounds bad but it true. I always thought of myself as a fair mechanic but this D#*^ diesel is killing me.
I was also told today that the TPS was on the gas pedal. There is a sensor down there but not like mine.
Do I have the wrong part or is it hiding under the hood somewhere?
Thanks

You have the wrong part. The entire pedal needs to be replaced and...you ain't gonna like the price. $150 IIRC.

Have you had it scanned?
Does it lope at idle?
Give a more detailed description of the symptoms.
I'll be the first to say you probably need to look at the TRS, Transmission Range Selector on the side of the trans.

I just had my 4th Trans. installed. They told me the TPS has to do with the shifting after I told them I didn't like the way this one shifts. I have already replaced the Trans Position Sensor. That cured my hard loping at start up.
I do have a little loping at a slight pull going down the road and I was told that may be the TPS.
At $100+ verses $45 for the one I got I need yor advise more tha ever.
Do I need a TPS?

Is the CEL on. You may have soft codes, scan it if you can.

Take a look at the TPS BTW: It's called an AP sensor, accelerator pedal
sensor.
There may be some side to side movement. If so look here:
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ml#post4653216

There have been a couple suppliers that have attmpted a replacement "TPS" for the AP sensor. No one has made it work yet that I know of. Take alook at your pedal and see if it's even close to yours.

Here's a few picts I found that may be helpful, it's called the "hot foot mod" but the pictures will get you familiar with it.
