K & N Air Filter

Nice. That's a pretty good difference and well worth the money then.

Do you figure your gas mileage or believe the info center? I haven't actually figured mine yet so, I don't know whether or not to believe the info center.

3 MPG increase? Wow, K&N should be selling filters based on fuel mileage alone!!

I just put in an AEM Dryflow panel filter. No oiling and it filters better than a K&N and flows better than a paper filter. It's guaranteed for the life of your vehicle. They're a brand new product. I didn't want an oiled filter which could ruin and gum up the throttle body and mass air sensor. Did I notice any difference in oomph or mileage? No.... mind you, I never calculated the fuel milage. I don't notice any difference by watching the fuel guage though.

Im using the k&n factory replacement on my 04 f-150,have not noticed any real power and never checked fuel milage.got the k&n cold air intake on my 03 expy and it made a differance in both milage/power(when i punch it you can hear the air kinda like a cop car sound) I will be replacing the f-150s with a cold air intake next

No one is getting 3 mpg from a filter. If anything, their driving habits changed when checking mileage even if its on a subconscious level.

From my experience, I wouldn't waste my money on one! Power improvement is (in my opinion) mind only, and fuel mileage- none! If they gained that much in mileage, with government regulations on mileage, wouldn't the manufactures installed them? Must be a reason!!!

Cold Air Intake

I had a cold air intake on my '01 GT and besides the fact that I only had to clean it once a year there was no noticable change in gas mileage. I do believe that there was a power gain in the upper RPM range, but can't say for sure as It really would have to be put on a dyno to know for sure. It was a major pain in the *** to clean though, I had to lay on my back under the front end and fight to remove the damn thing after I got the clamp off. Clean it, wait for about four hours for it to thoroughly dry and then get back under the car to put it on. I almost went back to the stock air box. Have you ever been underneath a Mustang GT? At 52 it's not quite as easy getting under my vehicles like it was when I was 19!

I think I'll be leaving my F-150 stock.

I'm using it simply because i drive in dusty conditions a lot and its nice to just be able to wash the filter instead of buying a new one.

Definitely get a better filter then. That filter will stop a cat, but not fine dust. People have analized their oil and metal wear is higher with this filter.

Stick with the motorcraft filter. The k&h has no felt gaskit like the manual recomends, and the oil on the filter can gum up your sensors. I put one in my truck and it wouldn't start at first, then when it did start it sounded louder. Pulled it after a few hundred miles. Got it sitting here, gonna sell it one of these days....
